Was it from Dean at Leeds? I bought a Cayman R from there, and was delighted as well!

That's where mine came from, they are a good lot and have had a great selection of ex-demo options.

As an aside, 'was doing 1.57's at Oulton on standard tyres --- not too shoddy for a road car.

And the best thing is, it's not a GT3 --- it is a daily driver.

Now ask how many people genuinely use their GT3's every day ...

I love these posts smile

Beautiful. If I don't get the top down use from the Boxster this year I'll be getting one!

This has been talked about on here before.

The Cayman R isn't special enough to wear an R badge.
He nor I was referring to Speciality. MR car with 330 HP and superb handling is not dull to me.

Boxster spyder is not more special than CR to me also. New 981 boxster is faster and unpractical roof just won't make a car more appealing to me.

redcardThe 981 is NOT faster or lighter than a Spyder

You may be right. Porsche claims 7:58 for new Boxster S at ring but they also claimed 7:56 for cayman R but that was not ever proved.

Well with my car that maybe the case, but most Spyders are speced back up, so I would say the new one is faster and lighter than 90% of the Spyders out there.

I have not seen another with my spec, ie with the 85kg weight savings.

On track the Spyder seems to be posting faster times than the Cayman R on fast laps also which is interesting.
But not a lot in it, a few seconds here and there.

+1 yes has to be the right spec, and most spyders are speeced up wrong by the clueless idiots running opc's.
mine is manual, short shifter, buckets, spyder alloys and sports exhaust THE RIGHT SPEC!..no aircon, pdk, turbo wheels, sport seats etc

Cayman R has "crappy" tires as default compared even to S model.

Mine was virtually same 'press car' spec as yours. I had nav, so add a kilo, and you had leather dash etc, so add a kilo.

Not sure the whole saving is as much as 85kg though, but happy to be corrected. smile

Why the fixation with lightweight gubbins when your car will never see the track?

I fitted the LiON battery since day 1 and has been on my car for almost 2 years.

I don't have a car trickle charger and it's performed flawlessly the entire time (touch wood).

The max I have left the car undriven is a 2 week stretch and it even started up at -5 degrees 1 cold winter morning... smile

and yes... 10 kgs of weight near the top of the vehicle.

but you are right.. it is way too expensive and I got it for the novelty.

Also booked in for the 7th of July at Donny, I will be in the white Cayman S with yellow calipers (on the car) going very slowly around the track. Come and say hello.

come and do a evening session there, gives you a heads up, and not so hard on the car ragging it for a full day.

I'll do a few evenings there in June.
