Ageing rather well in the looks department don't you think.
Saw an artic c2 the other day and it just had a real elegant simplicity to it, a sense of beauty that i'd not really seem before in the same car. I see the same thing in my mk1 Cayenne S. There's a purity there which is a welcome break from many of todays fussy concoctions. I feel the same way about the db9 as well. Just oozes elegance.

I see a really ratty silver one on a customers car park quite regularly. He uses it every day and its always filthy. Oh, and its got that startling Nephrite green interior!
But somehow it looks better every time I see it. I think its something to do with the way their stance has changed as the suspension has worn and settled?
Luckilly, he always parks it nose in, so I dont see THAT fizzog.

I agree with you on the early 996 looking great. Best in silver on 17"s and "fied egg" headlamps, I'd even venture saying its a bit of a classic already.
Unfortunately cannot agree with you on the Cayenne though, its hideous, particularly the early ones.

Agree. Early 996 is very Porsche. Simple, unpretentious, very consistent and clean bit of design. I like that you can have one that's got a properly narrow-body look. Since the 996, it's basically been a choice of wide body or really wide body.
Ambers are essential, however!

Can't say they do anything for me.
Now a vanilla 997 - that would interest me.

Agreed Mr Moose, the early 996 front lights are great and amber types the better. Just like the le mans winning car of that era. 996 is the discerning enthusiasts choice.

I used to hate them, absolutely loath them - now I don't
Cayenne's are great just so long as when the drive was finished you sprinted out of the car with your eyes closed

The cheaper they get, tbe better they look. Still wouldn't be tempted though.

Recently sold a facelift C2 and whilst I thought it looked great from the back and sides, in truth I never really got to grips with the view of the front and from the quarters. There is also, regardless of the reality, that niggle in the back of your mind of quite how you're going to try and rationalise the expense, if (I know that its a big if - I brought one) the engine goes pop - I know thats not what this thread is about!. Values have also plummeted horribly (depending on your POV...) in the last 12 months. There was another thread about forums talking prices up/down and skewing the market. I am quite convinced that this (996 values) is one area where it is absolutely true. Fantastic car though, used it for daily 110 miles commute, made getting up seem very worth it.....I would thoroughly recommend to anyone particularly if you want to use daily.
