GT3 noise- OK for Goodwood?
Discussion
Sorry, wrong car but I recently went there.
I got through OK with a standard exhuast but a Chim didnt.
Fortunately just round the corner is a company that will rent trackday silencers for £20 for the day. The marshalls actually told him where it was so should be no problem for you.
Perhaps a call to Goodwood might help you find the number of this garage.
I guess if the GT3 exhaust ends are like that of the turbo you will have some problems though.
Also:
I previosuly measured mine at over 100dbs @4500 rpm but at goodwood only got 95 dbs.
I was pretty happy with that and guess the meter I used the first time may have been out of calibration.

If you pass the static you may well fail the drivebuys on the track there are three one exiting the chicane, one at st marys and one at lavant. They are prity strict as a council noise chap will be round prity quick if there are any transgretions.aparently he has shut them down in the past.
Tommorow is a 105 day with the GRRC I can ask a couple of the chaps in standard GT3's what they are pulling noise wise if you like?

I failed once with a standard c2 996 exhaust!!!
got on the track but was supposed to limit it to 5000 revs, which i obvioulsy didnt.
GT3 ought to be ok, but it depends on the number of cars they are letting on...if its 5 at a time, should be fine....if its 10 then you might struggle.
BTW...take it easy if its wet. .Goodwood is tricky and has very poor run-off depth.
Ive seen plenty of tears shed there!

You should definately be OK on a 98db day if your GT3 has the standard factory exhaust as I know of a guy with a MK 1 GT3 (without the sports exhaust) who attends both quite and noisy days at Goodwood.
I wouldn't bother turning up if your GT3 has a sports exhaust (like mine)though these are OK on the noisy Goodwood days where the limit is 105db.

to clarify a little
10 cars at a time = 98DB
5 cars at a time = 105 db (I think).
This info is on their website.
My Griff is pretty loud for the drive bys (as I found out when watching the video afterwards!). But I still got on OK.
I know its a different car and all that but it might help you a little.
Also dont think you will be able to let of as you pass the drive by sensors. They are in the best parts of the circuit!
The day I wnet there was only a slight breeze, 23DegC and it was slightly overcast. In the afternoon it rained a little and I would hazard a guess that the pressure was not high and dropping through out the day.
Im guessing that all this makes a difference. i dunno what though but there's sure to be a PH expert on the matter!

My C4S was bang on 105 on the static and a couple of the GT3s wernt far behind Blue mkII and an RS but we were all ok on the drive buy.Whare it is tricky is if a couple of noisey cars bunch up then exit the chicane close together or st marys there is no longer a three strikes rule if you get the black flag for a drive by violation it is your one and only warning next time you are heading home.
The marshel I spoke to sugested you pop down to on any Saterday and have a free noise test if you are still unsure speek to mark featherstone(Ex GRRC club sec) he is the circit mgr now and his office is by the pits.
It is a lovely run out as well!!
