Just got my car back with wheels fully restored by Porsche. First impressions are they have done an excellent job. Particularly as my wheels are actually two tone with the outer rim being silver, but the spokes being Seal grey. Not cheap mind...

As far as I am aware most OPCs subcontract. There are very few who do it themselves.

Hmmm, not saying you're wrong but it was actually my Indie that sent them out to Porsche to be refurbed. So if you're right, then no wonder it was so bloody expensive as there must have been some serious margin stacking going on confused

We work with several OPCs for parts etc including motorsport stuff. We get calipers refurbed by them because they are the best that I have seen. However I do know that many OPCs send wheels to certain other companies - I think it also depends on the wheel being done e.g. GT3RS wheel are difficult etc.

I am surprised that an indie would send them to Porsche to be done. There are many companies around as in the thread who can do the job.

Because my wheels are two-tone, the Indie said that they would be best off sending them back to Porsche themselves to be refurbed. My wheels were pristine on the outer facia (never been kerbed), but they had quite bad bubbling on the inner rim caused by corrosion.

So based on what you're saying, I'm not quite sure who actually refurbished my wheels; however, whoever it was has done a great job. They have also painted the inner rims this time to help minimise the risk of the corrosion reappearing anytime soon.

Those are expensive to do anyway. They might have done them, but places like lepsons tend to do this type of wheel. Looks great which is the important thing smile

My diamond cut Turbo wheel was matched perfectly by Lepsons (via Exel), you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Chris has just brought my wheels back and as usual, a great job and service to boot.

This is the second time I've used him and won't be the last. I have to say though, based on a previos comment, that I don't find Lepsons work 'vanilla' at all. The finish is perfect and the colour is IMO spot on. Chris never fails to mention the requirements he stipulates to Lepsons when his wheels are re-furbed.

And the icing on the cake for me is Chris repaints the wheel bolts in silver, really finishes off the job.

Another +1 for Chris at Exel,

He's just left me with some stunning Sports newly shod and repainted gloss black - quite a transformation:

What about posting a picture of the whole car, just interested to see what the overall effect of the wheels on the car.

I talked to Lepsons who Exel wheels use to do the actual work.

I used the Wheel Restorer near Manchester. You'll need to courier the wheels but the level of attention to detail and quality in the workmanship seemed much higher to me. Wheels returned within 5 days looking like absolutely new.
Used them once, had issues, VERY poor after sales in fact he did nothing to rectify the problems I had, had serious problems fitting wheels on the car due to how thick the paint was.

Avoid TWR like the plague

If you're in Stevenage BJV are in Flaunden (Herts). Here's a link to their informative website, which explains the process and includes a price list:

The last set BJV did for me was decidedly average - I won't be using them again...

Hi Dadofbud,

The spokes are painted Seal Grey and the rims are standard alloy silver (sorry don't know the exact colour). These are as per the factory finish, although I did have the inner rims painted to better protect them.

Lepsons were great for me. In fact, Chris from Exel picked up another set of wheels this weekend from me which will be at Lepsons on Monday. smile

Just got my wheels back from Chris @ Exel wheels. Fantastic job. It's a bit like handing a bloke a scruffy set of wheels and a modest sum of cash and getting a new set of wheels back. Great service on the drop off and pick up too - saved me heaps of time, travel and hassle. Couple of pics (I am not a photographer!)
