Hi All,
Just beeing doing a little research on the net and there are a few web discussions, where people seem to think the 997S is as fast.......if not faster than the 996TT.
Asuming the above two cars were manuals or both tips/auto which would be faster, in any given situation, road, track, 0-100, mid range etc etc??

PS. I was under the impression the 996TT although older would show a clean pair of heals???!!!

996tt is faster although manual 997S is as good as 996ttt tiptronic until very high speeds.

The 997S is a great manual car, it has a power band and you need to work a box. The Turbo tip is the only application that the tip really works. It has so much power and so much that is accessible at any time that you don't need to worry about gears, let the car do all that.

That is a brilliant video!
So on a track the 997S is a pretty handy weapon!
The 996TT was very quick on the straights.

I drove 7 cars before I got my 996tt.
These were 996 C4S's coupe and convertible, 997C2, 997C2S's and 2 996tt. There's no competition on speed, the 996tt wins that.
Don't get me wrong the others are fast but the 996tt is faster than all of them.
The 997 C2 felt slow and I managed to floor it on the test drive which I didn't do in either of the 996tt's I took out. It's a measure for me if I have the balls to floor a car on a first drive or if I feel I need to hold back.
The 997 C2S was quicker but then I drove a 996tt and haven't looked back.

Brakes and suspension also let 6ttt down hence if you are leaving stock I would go for 997 C2S.
