Funny you should mention pics of my porker .... A colleague at work is a very keen photographer and he wants to do pics of the Cayman and my 'blade. Check out his website ... Simon Harvey Photography, especially what he's done with the R8 and his 'busa ... Awesome.

This is a fantastic result for you Debs, what a relief it must be.
Everytime I read one of these threads on PH I think about selling my 2006 Cayman S (with no warranty). I've just hit 60,000 miles in mine and its running beautifully but I'm nervous every time I start it up!

Seems like an ideal opportunity to protect your investment and take the risk out of driving your car Get a warranty ...... ? and then get out there and drive it like you stole it ..........

Still seems sad to me that it is generally accepted these days that one shouldn't run a Porsche without an ectended warranty. A Porsche FFS.
Was it this way in 'the old days'?
BTW, were you ever to buy a Nissan Cube, OP, you could probably sleep easy without an extended warranty.

An extended warranty is a form of insurance.....you insure your house, why not insure the second biggest purchase you are ever likely to make A car is a mechanical machine with moving parts , sometimes things WILL go wrong It is shirley more important to warranty a more expensive vehicle than a cheaper shed .... the level of risk is so much higher and from a piece of mind point of view......with a warranty = sleep easy - enjoy your car as intended risk free without a warranty = worry - dont sleep - listen for every strange noise - dont drive it as much or as hard - dont enjoy the car .......sell it ? Totally agree, its an embarrassment for Porsche that there is a strong need to pay out £1k+ a year for a warranty to save you a potential £10k bill. Car only having 10k miles on the clock just adds to the embarrassment. I have never felt the need in 18 years of driving various cars to have an extended warranty on a car nor can i think of any friends driving various cars doing so.

Wouldn't it be funny if the extra sales of extended waranties caused by owners engine fears has resulted in a net increase in profits to Porsche?
Chocolate engine = more warranty sales
I don't suggest that this was 'the plan', but it may have created a win-win for Porsche. Make cheaper engines AND sell more warranties.
Would it be too much to suggest that such things are given more careful consideration than we might believe?
