Personally I can do without an auto program which keeps the revs above 4k, just use manual mode and choose your own rev range. It also changes the throttle map, but less than in the 997. The 991 throttle already feels rocket fast in Normal. But I do appreciate the little bit of slip to PSM that it provides. Yesterday, on a greasy coiling sliproad my 991 performed a rather elegant slide (on an empty road very late at night I should add) and it definitely makes the car feel more alive. If you like that sort of thing. Not for the rush hour, mind. And don't forget the dynamic engine mounts. Apparently they give a more comfortable and more sporty ride. Very hard to tell whether what you feel is PASM, DEM, PDCC though....

After my recent pilot in a couple of 991 cars i would say no, not any more.
The sport button is standard on all pdk cars now so you only get sport plus and the mounts. I would wager that sport plus is one of the most unused button on anyones car bar, the Porsche silverstone guys to demo launch control. Nobody really uses it. The real hands just switch psm off and hit sport.
Dynamic engine mounts are a bit like the other options, you don't need em.
The clock is also more hideous and you can now hear the thing tick.
The lack of this option on a 991 would not affect resale, It won't be on my next spec some peeps would actually prefer not to have it.

Doesn't Sport Plus further increase the shift speed on the gearbox too though? I thought, Sport Plus in manual seemed the perfect combo... fastest shifts, loose PSM without the car redlining all the time I wouldn't bother with it on a manual, but PDK it seems worthwhile to me.

Yep. I forgot about the shift speed. SportPlus in manual mode is indeed how I drive on anything but the commute. Good call, Jon. Suspect I would still spec it with a manual for the DEMs. I've driven 5 991s and the only one without Sport Chrono/DEMs had a crafty ride, though that could be down to tyre pressures. I didn't check.

Thats the theory, in practise most drivers will never use the button and its a waste of money better spent elsewhere.

I have it but if I had to sacrifice in order to have PDCC/PSE, the chrono would go. On antother note BnB, I know that you fiddled with the pressures on your GTS, have you experimented with your 991 yet?

I like Sport Plus engaged on a manual 991S. You get the exhaust burble, looser PSM, the punchy throttle and the stop/start deactivated all with one button press.

I've had an issue with sport plus in auto mode, my car has stuck in 1st gear and I've had to quickly manual shift, happened on a couple of occasions now, anyone else had similar?

Couldn't really see the point myself. Probably won't use the car on a track and haven't specced PDCC or the sports exhaust, which might make a case for it. For me, launch control was the only thing in its favour, but you look a right monkey at the lights with the spoiler and revs up. £1k seemed a lot for a button I'd use once or twice. The car came in at 87k as it was, I'd be digging too deep to go much further.
