Current 996 turbo was my first porsche, specced by me and bought new in April 2002, so it's 10 years old.
The car has done 70k miles even though not used as a daily driver. Made up of many TartanHoons, Megahoons into Europe, Ring trips in 2002/4 before insurance became an issue, a few visits to IOM, loads of VMAX days and many sunday morning dawn runs. Had a new engine two years ago so when I buy my next new 911, I don't anticipate selling it. There is no point, too much fun had in the car, too many memories, relatively fresh engine, it'll never appreciate in value but it was never bought as an investment. I think it's a keeper.

Love my '06 997.1 C2S (bought 2 years old with 5k on the clock).
I keep thinking I 'need' a 997.2 Turbo and that will then be the keeper....hmmm.

SFO said: why? did you have to pay? Timing chain went and yes I had to pick up the bill. Having had to buy the replacement engine I'm far less likely to sell the car. The engine problem has been discussed on this forum before so don't want this thread to go off track. (details can be found on the car running costs on my profile, happened in 2010).
