Pcgb racing tomorrow. Boxsters versus 996, 993, 964, 968 & 944. Cheap day out and hopefully nice weather ! 2 x 25 minute Porsche races plus various other marques. Lets see some some German metal in the car parks and hopefully none crunched on the track !

timetable here: http://www.mgcc.co.uk/competition/Oulton_Park/Time...should be a very interesting days racing - all the Class 1 cars have had a weight reduction except the 996, to even out the performance. Couple of extra Boxsters out for the first time from the BRSCC series, that should add some battles into the mix.

Alternative race report here: www.gooseracing.comVideos in the process of being edited and uploaded. I qualified ok but put in what could be described as an adequate performance - I'm perhaps being a bit hard on myself but mediocrity is never very satisfying.

In my case its "hearing difficulties " Ahh well, it wasn't me that wrote it and now you've mentioned it I should have edited that bit - I missed a gear between Druids and Lodge (3rd-neutral, then neutral-4th) and then into Old Hall I changed "down" from 4th to 5th! This was in my notes but the young lady that wrote it up clearly tried to condense things but inadvertently made it sound like something a bit different. I'll pass along your compliments though.

Any comments on the revised weight and the relative performance compared to previously. How did the BRSCC Boxster Spec cars get on compared to the Hartech cars?

But of course that could be down to the drivers. One the BRSCC boxsters didn't finish race 1.....it went off and was too badly damaged to repair for race 2 (driver was OK).

Cliff and Ian have been pretty quick in their earlier rounds in our series: Ian was 5th in both races at Oulton in March; Cliff got a 6th at Brands. It could be down to our regs being more strict - Gaz shocks and standard Porsche brakes. Or weight - we did have an extra layer of stickers. boxsey said: One the BRSCC boxsters didn't finish race 1.....it went off and was too badly damaged to repair for race 2 (driver was OK). That was Ian's - proper pranged so it was. Pretty much head-on to the Armco just after Island Bend then slid along it until the gravel at Shell. Glad he's OK.

The link to the TSL results pack works for me, visit www.tsl-timing.co.uk if you want to go back to the source of the results and try again from there. Hartech Boxsters in PCGB won the day quite convincingly over the BRSCC versions. Of course, we cannot compare drivers and I think the BRSCC boys might have struggled a bit to learn about race driving on the Michelin PSC's ...... their normal rubber being TOYO 888's. Also am I right in thinking that the BRSCC does not allow LSD's whereas PCGB do allow them.

I doubt the shocks make any difference, all the EMC cars have GAZ shocks including that 996 which has basic single adjust GAZ units (similar to those on the boxsters) although Kevin as usual seems to have got the setup pretty well nailed. Brakes again have to be standard in club except for pads and lines. Tyres? again they have run the same cars on multiple different tyres I doubt there is barely any difference in lap times between the good 1B tyres. Its reckoned for example that the Dunlops whilst being 0.5s slower in ultimate pace are likely faster over a race as there vastly more consistent than the Michelins. I can remember Keiran Brewer setting class pole at Silverstone driving his S2 in CSCC Future Classics in a time almost identical to the best he had done in club on the Michelins. ISTR he was using R888s that day on some weird 3 spoke wheels and his lap time was either 1:07.9 or 1:08 dead, something like that.
It's always difficult coming fresh into a unknown championship, especially one as competitive and honed as club. I remember for example looking back at Pete Morris's times when he came back in to the championship after driving GT3s etc., he was 3s off the pace at first! No shame on any one to find it tough going at first.
