Market update on 996 GT2s
Discussion
Yum to all of those!
The yellow works well too.
I've ended up going for the other choice on my list. MK1 GT3 Clubsport in guards red.
I love the GT2s but having just sold a Turbo'd 911 I really wanted to go back to NA and I've had my eye on this car for a few years now.
I may still try a GT2 one day, although I hope this GT3 is a keeper. I grin just thinking about it sitting in my garage and the V5 winging its way back with my name on it. Certainly a dream realised.
Enjoy your cars chaps. We're all very lucky.

What about "hearing aid" Beige though??
Can someone please tell me when the Mark 2 996 GT2 came out and were there many improvements over the mark 1?
I hear that the 08/09 models[997?] are much improved but are nearly double the price. Is it possible to improve a 996 to the 08 models at a cheaper total price or is this just a reflection on their much improved handling?

PS. Just read the 'Automobile' article which talked about the 'vicious' handling. Is the Mark 2 better or the same with a slight alteration to the rear suspension? Does it really need the jump to the 997 08 model to enjoy that power? By enjoy I mean the ability to power slide it like a 997 GT3.

you can quite happily enjoy the power in the 996 gt2, i sure do, but like anything that has lots of power going through the rear wheels with no traction control etc, you just need to respect itI,ve now done some more research, and would like to pick your brains and experience if you do not mind.
I will state what I think is the situation while inviting your howls of mirth at my stupidity.
The GT2 has a reputation for being difficult to control on the throttle in the wet so is it easier with the standard turbo set up on the 996 or the variable vane on the 997? I am assuming that there is more lag on the 996 and then it hits big time with a very flat torque curve[ie. it doesn't build gradually like some turbo systems] which causes the control issues. The 997 has far less lag due to the vanes but also has an amazingly flat torque curve so what is the important factor for difficulty in controlling slides, the lag or the flat curve?
I can drift a car with standard turbo [ie lag plus a climbing torque curve] and a GT3 so when I modulate the throttle to balance the slide am I relying on the drop off in torque as the revs drop or something else? I am asking whether the difficulty with the GT2 is that the torque doesn't drop off when the revs drop because it is a flat 'curve'.
OR IS ALL OF THE ABOVE BOL...KS?

What's happening with your old GT2 Crimp ?
Looks like 911V are having trouble shifting it. You were lucky to get shot of it when you did I reckon.

That's the game, Willie - talk the market down and you'll be in one before you know it!!
(Are you still after one or are you sticking with the normally aspirated camp for now?)

I think I knew the previous owner. (I take it the plate was the former owners)
Guy called Martin owned it, was then offered for sale via Castello and featured in a magazine article and then Nick Whale had it on SOR. I purchased it directly from the owner last year. It's not on the P plate anymore as I transferred it back to the previous owner. It's a fantastic car, was out in it last night at PCGB regional meet.
