It's probably been done to death, but how do people find the 996tt with the tip box? Is it a true auto or more akin to the BMW smg type of box? Are the buttons really usable, or is it a stick it in drive and leave it?

Anyone bought a tip and regretted it?

I was a die hard manual only type of driver, I've had dsg boxes in VW's etc but the performance from a mapped x50 is so strong that I prefer a tip purely due to needing to hold the wheel when the power comes in ha! Seriously though, no clutch probs and in the real world they are every bit as quick in tip mode, no boost drop off between gear changes .

I've had 11 911's GT2's, 3's various turbo's 4S etc all manuals.
My present Turbo which i've bought to thrash about in is a TIP with a reported 550+ ponies.
As mentioned with that power i want to keep me hands on the bloody wheel as it feels mentally fast!
Previous 996 Turbo's

Just bought this beast

I'm showing 1.3 bar average boost with peaks of 1.4 I'd love to know what bhp that equates to?

You'll have to have a play with my Vbox mate, that'll give you a good idea of how long you're likely to keep your license!

My guess is not long biggrin

Wow that must fly ! I'm happy with the car now and wouldn't dare go higher as it's ridiculous on the motorway, 3rd makes you go light headed and fourth is still ridiculous... I've not tried it down my favourite North Wales roads yet
