Sarbs is that through experience of driving lhd Porsche or speculation?

I think the 997 in the UK will be trading close to list after a year of production, a rhd car would be better to hold it's money. You may pay a little more at the outset for rhd but it will prove to be a better buy at the current spread to lhd cars.

I had a LHD 944 T for a while. I quickly got used to it and on the whole was happy, but a couple of things never felt quite right.

Very hard to see left when at a junction which is at less than 90 degrees to the road you are joinging. This is a right pain at times.

Habit means you look over your left shoulder when reversing. Seems more diffiuclt over your right (no logic there!, but its true)

Ticket machines etc obvious but real.

Overtaking actually not a big issue for me - just got used to making sure it really really was safe - but if you are keen to get into every gap should should probably avoid LHD

I bought it becuase it was a top condition car and I wanted it mainly for the track. It has been replaced with a RHD 968 CS and it is better to be on the right.

If I was buying another track orientated car auch as a 964 RS then I'd probably go LHD but if its a road car then the compromise is a real one and it just dosn't make sense to me to compromise when you are spending this sort of money, particularly when much of the benefit is eroded when it comes to sell

My Viper was a LHD beast, but was suprisingly easy to get along with.

The only caviat was that you had to avoid car parks and overtake on right handed bends where the visibility was enhanced.

I would only go LHD on cars which arent available in RHD otherwise its a risky business.

Just buy a boggo C2 for £58.... a few dealers in the south have a couple available for short term delivery

Interesting you say that dealers have regular Carrera available at a relatively short wait.
I was under the impression that 996/Boxster sales were down as buyers await new models.
This gives the impression that there is perhaps less pent up demand than I would have expected.
Makes you wonder if the economy is slowing a little. This could have a downward influence on late porsche prices generally?

There are quite a few 997s available at much shorter notice than dealers would have you believe........lots of people put down returnable deposits and quite a few of them are not taking the option of having the car......dont know if they are speculators with cold feet or people a little unsure about what the economy holds for the future.......if the cars do fetch a premium I guess the dealers will register the cars and get three or four months use before moving them on for list. ( I wouldnt buy one of these knowing the thrashing they get from staff and customers!)

Only driven one left hooker, a 360 modena with f1 shift, even with the gear stick out of the equation it didnt feel right, no matter how much my wallet wanted it to be.

I am not sure its quite that straightforward. Demand is high and most all dealers are sold out for almost the next 12 months.

There just seem to be a handful of slots which seem to have come about as a result of the limited options availability in the first 3-4 months of production. People wanting sports exhausts, different wheels, sports seats and different colours are delaying their orders due to some of the options not being immediately available.

There is also going to be a few early orderers on the list whom suddenly find themselves without the 10% needed to spec the car and perhaps a p/ex which is worth a tad less than expected.
