Are you doing the HPI check before you commit to a PPI?

It read the other way in your previous post.

This is a good point.
The HPI check for mine showed that, at the time the kit was fitted, the car was wearing a "1 ABC" type reg'n plate which wouldn't have been cheap either.

it looks great (from the photos) but why oh why stick the GT2 badge on it? Like the infamous "S" badges that make their way onto the back of X50 cars and 996 GT3's with rear wipers and tippy boxes rolleyes

Overall nice looking car but there is something strange about the offside exhaust tail pipe. Seems a bit squint and offset ?
Maybe just my eyes ?

I will do a HPI, as a newcomer to the UK what is the best way to run the check?

Agree the GT2 badges need to go, a bare bum is best. The link above is the car.

I agree with bare bum comment, although beware come resale. My turbo never had a badge and I liked it that way. Muppet who came to look at it wanted me to speak to all previous owners to make sure it'd never had a shunt (despite the bootlid paint being within factory tolerance).

Would someone trying to hide a past deliberately leave the badge off!!??

Just for comparison, here's the picture of the GT2 kitted turbo with badge that was for sale at 911Virgin/Malton that I mentioned earlier in the thread.

The combination of that badge with that spoiler looks a little odd to my eyes.

Of course any GT2 kitted turbo would have to have had a replacement bootlid fitted (you can't just change the spoiler), and if someone came to buy mine and was too stupid to realise that and cited the missing badge as an issue, I think I'd have to send them packing on the basis that they were too stupid to own my car!

Some great responses above

Just wanted to add when i was in the market for a 996 turbo my dream spec would have included a GT2 aerokit, ideally factory fit but a dealer fit due to owner preference rather than prang is next best thing. I also wouldn't consider it as non-standard as it was a legitimate option on the turbo, albeit a special order. Not a fan of cars that are not original looking either eg 997 wheels on 996.

Investigated lots of cars and only found one with the kit but it was flat black paint not basalt and I was worried it would be a nightmare to keep scratch free.

The 996 GT2 is one of the best looking 911s IMHO and I would pay a small premium for it, should never be badged as a a GT2 mind.

Best of luck with the purchase

I have a Carrera that looks like a GT3 thanks to the factory-fit Aero Kit, I would have no qualms about buying a Turbo with a (properly fitted) GT2 kit. It might actually be my ideal 996, come to think of it smile

Perhaps they just couldn't agree on the price? Don't think there's any need to jump to any sinister conclusions - this is someone's P&J we're talking about.

Anyway, I see there's another GT2 kitted turbo on Autotrader.

Quite a spec!!

Not jumping to any conclusions but it may save me a 280mile trip (or not if the car is straight)
