PDK makes a huge difference. I doubt anyone can launch a C2S to 60 in 3.5s, a non-S 997.2 turbo to 60 in 3.2 (2.8 according to one source) etc. Not sure if true, but isn't the gearing also longer on some PDK cars?
I drove a 997S PDK at Silverstone 2 years ago - I asked the instructor if we could try out launch control and was astonished by the acceleration - mentioned this to the guy and he said he had timed that particular car the day before in 3.9 secs to 60 and it felt believable.
2 years ago? - that would be a 997. 991 is quicker again! 3.5s reported on some tests. Bonkers quick smile
In the 991S and the Turbo S, the PDK box is revised and makes a noticeable difference to the acceleration for 0-100, it feels like one long, smooth rush of power.

Yes and CR did it in 12.5s. Also the thing with PDK R is that you can usually launch it faster without launch control. Some guy did numbers well below 4.0s to 60mph with manual launch of cayman R.
Using LC, I have figured a Cayman R PDK at 4.0s to 60mph and 9.9s to 100mph (ive posted those vbox images on ph previously).... I didn't get near those times with a manual launch.

For standing start times, up to 100mph at least, PDK+LC is a great equaliser that masks otherwise unremarkable power outputs.

Of course ability to launch faster without LC depends on road conditions and driver skill. But basic idea of LC is to limit power output and it has to more or less guess how much grip there is. Some systems learn surface conditions after one launch but I have seen even these system to be slower than skilled driver.(at least in motortrend tests)

Of course people do not tell how many tries they had to do to beat LC biggrin

Yes, very interesting. I've come from 2.9 PDK Boxster to 3.4 PDK 991 (Cab). Even before I bought the 911 I imagined I'd probably go back to Boxster. I miss my Boxster with it's nimbleness. The 991 feels like a big lump. It does sound good though and goes better. Even one of the salesmen said I should go for the Boxster and save myself £35k. But, I had to get rid of that pesky 911 itch!
I went from 8 previous 911 including gt3rs gen 2 back to a new 981 box s with PDK and so far feel such a nicer sports car and no regrets

Usability, not being able to get round even my home town because of any speed bump over 104mm would ground the car, only had two seats so no different to Box S , the tyres come new with only 5 mm where normal tyres 8mm at £600 a pot each tyre you could not use it all the time .

Amazing car maybe the best I have ever had........ But the 981 is right up there I adore both but have to say right now my 981 wins, sounds amazing (has sports exhaust) like the GT3RS, I can use everyday and anywhere, its "public" draw attention is no less. Also it's an open top, can't really compare except its lovely to be able to enjoy a car, in 3 days I have done more miles than I did in the RS in 6 months (I was never a track driver) .

I honestly enjoy my 981 more than any 911 I have owned, it really has moved a massive step forward more so than a 991 which is £40k more than a high spec 981.

front axle lift would have sorted the problem

Thanks for your post, only two or three posters on here have gone the whole hog and then back again. My Boxster is up on it's 3 year lease at the end of next month, I thought I knew what I was going to do next, back to the drawing board for me.
