New Wheels for 05 987 Boxster - Help Pls !
Discussion
Hi newbie here from Leeds,
I'm looking to upgrade the alloys on my 987 Boxster and have bought a set the same as these, but a little cheaper may I add and they are in transit:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4204945.htm
They are 18x8 front and 18x10 which seem all OK for a Boxster, but I'm concerned and also confused on the offset:
Front offset = ET37 and Rear offset = ET58
Will these fit or do I need to sell them ?
Appreciate any help
Pete

I fear that the Boxster's rear wheels are narrower than a 911's, maybe 265 rather 295 from memory? On 911 wheels the wider body models, like C4(S), have a different offset to narrower bodied models, like C2(S). Unfortunately I don't know if your wheels are the narrow or wide bodied versions. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will be able to help.
You maybe able to return the wheels or ebay them - demand for winter wheels/tyres should start to pick up round now.
Good luck.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Just looked at the add on what I have bought and the tyres sizes on the wheels are:
Front - 235/40 R18 8J Offset 37
Rear - 265/40 R18 10J Offset 58
Does this help with the killer question - are these too big for a Boxster 987
The tyre sizes are correct however the standard 18 inch wheel sizes for a 987S are: 8J et57 and 9J et43. Use this wheel offset calculator to compare these specs to what you're intending to put on:Front - 235/40 R18 8J Offset 37
Rear - 265/40 R18 10J Offset 58

I think you'll find the reduced inside clearance at the rear could particularly be a problem (which might be overcome by fitting spacers)
I noted from the ad that they are winter tyres which might explain why a 265/40 is on a 10J rear.
ETA: Trev beat me to it.
Thanks folks for the advice. Wheels arrived this morning. Look lovely.
I'm going to get 2 small curb marks repaired, a bit of spit and polish and back on that favourite auction site.
Tyres are in very good condition so I'm hoping to atleast re-coup most of the £460 layout incurred for a set of 4 Porsche wheels.
