if you get a clutch fitted by a indy, how will Porsche refuse your extended warranty on the 111 check.

They are not even going to know if the cars had a new clutch.
err.. they told him the clutch was duff... its not gonna magically fix itself wink

though i very much doubt they would refuse to extend the warranty, its more of a concern if the engine goes pop and they refuse to replace it under warranty as we was in breach having the work done at an Indy... assuming hes on the new terms of course wink

I'd definitely ask for a discount. If you don't ask you don't get. If you're in the Porsche Club our OPC knock a bit off. Good luck.

yes they have changed sometime late last year, my July 2011 warranty only stated the work should be done to a Porsche standard not necessarily by Porsche themselves... since late last year (don't know the exact date) this changed and it clearly states that no work should be carried out by anyone other than Porsche - as confirmed in the Terms and Conditions for the warranty i bought in July this year.
Mine's a January renewal & doesn't state work has to be done by the OPC, only use approved parts. So if it's changed it must be after Jan 2012. Not that it makes any difference to me because I'm lazy & always just take it to the OPC anyway.

The OPC will be looking for work.
I suggest a conversation about their workshop hourly rate.
Good luck

Thanks everyone. All done and my pocket is £2k lighter. Clutch feels very different now very smooth. The OPC did a few things on top for free so overall I am happy. Some may have held out for a better deal but ultimately life is too short and I am now back enjoying the car. Hopefully will last until I upgrade in about 18 months!!

Was out today and changed from 1st to second when all of a sudden the gear lever went loose. Now car stuck in first. Any ideas? Feels like the linkage has gone?

If its anything like the 996, the linkage will have become detached from the bottom of the knob

LoL!
No it happened earlier today and it took them 60 minutes to get a low loader out to me and the Guy was suitably cautious in loading the car. it has lowered suspension (porsche sports suspension before anyone says warranty is invalid)!

Hope it is an inexpensive fix as having spent 2k for a clutch a few months ago would not be too impressed if something major has gone awry.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago (linkage went) and was covered under the extended warranty.

All done under warranty apparently new gear cables required. Top job and excellent service. Hope no further issues for a while.
