I found an old copy of Porsche Post today, and found the selection of cars for sale interesting. Back then I was just about to start my search for a 964RS, and ended up with a lovely RHD maritime blue car for £35k. I nearly bought a Ferrari 348GTC (also RHD and rarer than the 964RS) but chickened out. Anyway, here is a selection in the classifieds:
88 Carrera SE - £18k 88 Carrera Club sport - £24k, and sounds lovely 92 964RS CS, mint green - £39k 76 turbo - £19k 71 911S RHD, £15k
It's funny, we all thought these were expensive 9 years ago! I wonder what we'll think of today's prices for cars like 993 turbo and 996 GT3RS in 9 years time. Or maybe £75k for a 964RS will look like good value?

Here are some more from the same mag:
81 924 GTS £40k 92 930 turbo ex-Le Mans £70k 94 964 RS 3.8 £70k 96 993 RS LHD £37k
Yummmm.

Unbelievable!
Even factoring in inflation, still very interesting!

On the contrary, I thought those cars were great value back then and even better a few years earlier. for mid £20Ks you could have the pick of a 964RS (LHD), C3.2 Clubsport or '73 2.4S. I managed 2 out of those 3 Todays bargains are in 996, Boxster and a few of the classic 911s seem to have missed the bubble eg. 3.0 SC and the standard C3.2. Standard 964s are still great value too.

Yeah, the joys of hindsight eh!
I have a load of old 911 and Porsche world mags from as far back as 1997. 964RSs were £22k-£28k! Unbelieveable.
Nevermind, there are still a few nice old things available for sensible money.
