Though that is a mixture of loving my 997.1 GT3 and even if I did prefer the new model the likely 120k price tag would prohibit me from getting one anyway.

Photographs 4/5 and 6 appear to show it's a wide body and has the Carrera 4S illuminated red strip taped over smile

So, it's automatic and four wheel drive.... wink

Maybe it will have four seats and a sunroof too..? biggrin

So this is a Porsche is it? I only ask because I was thwarted by whoever put masking tape across the badge on the steering wheel. Cunning that.

Agreed, they also remove the bonnet badge to further cover their tracks, bound to appear on a 'what car is this?' thread soon.

Looks ... Bulky. Sure it'll be crazy fast though. And will post silly 'ring times over the next few weeks.
As quick as the 4.0RS? Certainly be an easier car to drive fast.

More C2SRS than GT3. The latter badge should be reserved strictly for road-going race cars.

And it's automatic FFS.

Hmmm, but the central exit exhausts, 'GT3' embossed and >8k rpm rev counter and bumper slats ahead of the bonnet all point towards it being a GT3.

Which would be great if it wasn't a fking automatic!

Should be fine, I am sure it will be possible to order the Luddite Edition 7-speed manual.

I wonder if they'll keep the centre locks? Has the breaking hubs issue been successfully addressed?

Looks much better than studs but a bit of a faf if you want to tinker yourself or get your tyres changed anywhere else but an OPC.

I can't see any paddles - am I blind? Surely not a full auto GT3. Perhaps a Turbo or am I talking out of my hat?

If you really believe that the PDK will not be preferred, start buying the manual GT3's for they will surely appreciate.

surprised at the anti-automatic comments. Do 458, 599 GTO, MP14 etc etc owners feel they are being robbed of the stick too ?

Porsche have to drop the third pedal or they will be left in the dark. PDK works, and extremely well too.

In pic1 you can see the 'Up' paddle just above the right steering wheel spoke.
I'm split here. On the one side I guess we all knew PDK was as shoe-in given its popularity, and it will certainly make sense on a track, but on the other I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping that there will be a manual option.
On looks: I think a more 'GT3' colour will show the form a lot better (not quite sure it'll look as good as a 997.1 GT3 in white but we can dream) but the back does need work. I can't see any point in having a ducktail with the silly 'Max Power' afterthought stuck on top. ditch both and come up with a proper single piece item please...

Don't Porsche want a single transmission for the 991 C2SRS GT3? So is likely to be the auto because they [Porsche] are obsessed with beating the GTR at the Nurburgring. To all intents and purposes Porsche are building their own 'GTR'.

I cannot believe for one minute this jumped up forgery is going to homologate anything, so to call it a GT3 is a bleedin' travesty.. Please Mr Porsche, leave the electronic gizmo-overload and fancy-but-lifeless transmissions to the Turbos and keep the GT3 pure.

If you exclude the non-manual option issue (which I admit is a big if), I think that if they can keep the, in my opinion, gorgeous 991 interior and still deliver a stunning driver focused experience (which you certainly wouldn't bet against Porsche to do) then it will be a triumph.
