is it lighter? the c4s runs all the suspension and brakes and wheels and arches from the turbo.i assume the bills wouldve been the same on the suspension and the weight very similar?
That's what I thought? Can't see how a C4S would be any lighter than a turbo.

OK but 70kg won't make the car feel 'heavy'.

My C4S doesn't feel any different with a 90KG passenger!

70kg although is heavier yes,i wouldnt say that would make much impact on how the two different cars wear their suspension.and not to make enough difference to feel heavier i wouldnt have thought?

maybe the issue comes with people giving the turbo more abuse because its a turbo and they feel it has to be thrashed everywhere? and the c4s is driven slightly more sedately?

Must be the turbo's wider tyres then because it FEELS a lot more than 70kg heavier. It's not until you're really up to speed that the 996TT starts to feel nimble.

This looks like it would fit the bill, I'm sure being November a deal could be done and it's got nearly a years Porsche warranty.

Strange thread this, ive had a 996c4s and a 996 turbo..(and 964 and 993 turbo's),i currently have a 996 gt3rs..996 turbo is a league above the very dull 996 c4s imo..in fact apart from the 993 c2s i had the 996 c4s was the worst of all Porsches ive owned..anyone who remotely compares a 996 c4s with a 996 turbo is either clueless or cant afford the latter..there is nothing other than fuel consumption that a 996c4s does better than a 996tt..

So it doesn't feel lighter on its feet or have better steering? I just assumed it would. So a 996 C4S is basically a 996 turbo with no turbo?? Must be the dullest car imaginable then as the turbo is by far the best thing about it.

Most say the C4S widebody is the slowest 996?

Glorious exhaust note though...

I can understand your being tempted by a turbo but allow me to share my experience:

Buy the c4s - it's lighter, more nimble and more genuinely a sports car than the turbo. Less is definitely more.

Less is only ever more when it's less that you are selling.
All the rest of the time more is more.

Is the Turbo better than the C4S, Hell YES.
RMS/IMS, bore scoring, you'll never have to worry about any of these with the Turbo.

The price difference between the two simply cannot justify going for second best.
Just my $0.02

Good point!

According to EVO the C4S is second best......

But not to the turbo......its to the GT3!

Slowest in a straight line, although I doubt most, if any, punters would notice the difference in accel between a C2, C4 and C4S. Obviously the Turbo feels much quicker than any of the n/a cars in a straight line.

But as for driving around corners and braking, a C4S would definitely not be the slowest in most hands, especially if wet. Probably the quickest for most driving abilities.
