Porsche itch won't go away....time for a C4S!?
Discussion
I have followed this thread with some interest since it was first posted.
Despite having always loved the look of the 4S since they were first launched I felt that that it was unlikely I'd actually get round to owning one as there would always be something else in the way.
So, it came as a bit of a surprise when a lovely 996 4S came up in Aberdeen and I didn't have any good reason not to go for it and I have to say that I'm so glad I did!
The 4S in general is still a head turner with superb sound via the PSE and the later interior makes for a slightly nicer place to be than that earlier 996's. Having helped my brother run his '99 C4 I know the issues that can arise so I made sure to check this car out before buying. The result is that, other than some tyres, some steering bushes and a radiator connection, this car owes me very little but is such a rewarding drive. Useable daily for both my girlfriend and I it's still practical but sufficiently interesting to keep our attention.
Value-wise I think I got a good car for good money. There does seem to be a massive range of prices though. One seller wanted £21k for a silver 04 car recently with 119k on it and little in the way of spec. Then there are some newer cars with lower miles for mid to late £20's. still very good money I would say.
I'm actually selling mine having just bought an A5 Convertible for the gf but am keeping my eye out for a nicely specced 997 4S Targa in seal grey.
If anyone's interested its here. Price is a little high I think at the moment. £19.5 is more realistic I suspect.

All the best with the 4S hunt folks. I think they're great cars.

I've been following the prices on these for quite some time as last pork was a 996c4s, looking to get back into fold at present and was swithering between 6c4s and 7c2.
The non turbo higher end 996's seem to be sitting for a while up here in Scotland. Kenny Dunn had a nice 02 c4s on at about 20.9k which sat a while (an Aberdeen car- age/spec/mileage similar to yours James) and there was a doctors c4s that sat for a while, was then bought by a dealer in kenmay and sat for ages at 19, great car but had light grey interior.
On the other hand an auto came on at 17.5k '03 55k miles and in the week it took me to get myself sorted it had sold.
Your car looks good James, guess your stuck with the age old question of what the buyers are dictating and where to pitch to get interest and a sale but still get a bit of a return on the fact it's a v tidy car.
Good luck in the sale

This is the car by the way http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...
So, this car ticks a few boxes then. Thanks Monthefish
I am so excited about picking it up, i'll post pics a plenty on wednesday, after i have had a nice long drive
Quite a swerve from the C4S, but this car just grabbed me, and the power / performance is incredible, feels so much faster than any other Porsche I've driven.
