Just fyi - a widebody is about 175kgs heavier than a c2 and nearly 50kgs heavier than a standard c4.

No difference in bhp if you buy the same year.
Only diff in power is between 3.4 and 3.6 (you can't get a C4S with the 3.4) - that's what I meant, apologies if it want clear. You can argue that the 4wd cars have better weight distribution or that 2wd cars have better steering, and the 4wd cars have better traction, and that C4S have better brakes etc etc etc - my point was its really splitting hairs, the NA 996 (except gt3) are very similar in performance (and excluding tips). To buy one over the other based on such small performance differences would be a little pointless in my opinion - but I'm sure others disagree.

Buy the one you enjoy the most as a package.
Agreed - no doubt about one thing for myself personally - the c4s widebody is the most beautiful modern day porsche imho.

If we are talking about 'beauty', I would go with the gen 2 997 targa.

There is a very nice 996 C4S in the ads with a X51 Power Pack..?
Just as you think you have researched everything, Porsche throw another option in to the mix.

Anybody know much about this?

This is the car by the way smilehttp://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...

I was never looking for a rag top, but C4S with X51 and PSE, what's not to like. I've for it on my C2 and love it.

The cabrio might well have M030 and that's not everybody's cup of tea. Again I have that on the C2 and like it, but some sensitive types object.

I wish I had X51 on be C4S too, but they are thin on the ground. The improved throttle response and the way it comes alive above about 6k revs are great.

M030 is 10mm lower, but doesn't scrape too often. It's a good deal firmer though. I prefer the C4S without for day to day driving if I'm honest.

I couldn't find many cars with the X51 kit when I was looking - the 2004 anniversary model had it as standard (and the M030 I think?).

Now, can you get the M030 for the C4S?

I would not get too hung up on X51 if I were you. My C4S has it (by chance, I was not looking for it specifically) the difference is not actually that noticeable, even on track. Yes its a good option to have for resale and may carry a 1-2k premium (who knows!).

As for lowering the height...over the past 2 weeks ive heard the dreaded scrape on the front underside of my C4S bumper too many times. Mainly going around multi storeys etc but the worse one was coming out of the entrance of Bournemouth OPC!

Bit pricey for a private sale? Or is the 4S appreciating in value?
