I received my refurbished steering wheel and gear lever from Jack at Royal steering wheels today and he has done a SUPERB job.

its just like the RS finish that I wanted and looks the part.

great service too as it turned up in a week and the price was very good too for both parts.

here are some pics:

He's doing my E61 M5 next week, perforated leather sides alcantara top bottom and middle spoke tri M stitched
For £165 and building it out 1mm thicker all round.
Am debating full alcantara still though.....not sure it would look right in my E61 though, bit too much?

This is one he did for an E60 M5

Just to echo the above, I recently had the steering wheel, gearknob, gaitor and handbrake re-trimmed in my 997 by Jack, the turn around was 1 week and everything is perfect, as expected after he previously did the steering wheel in my E46 M3. OEM stitching, perfect stitching colour match to the rest of my 997 interior, will be using again and again and again.

In my 997, I opted for alcantara with grey stitch. My steering wheel was made thicker and I opted for thumb grips to be added.

i have ordered a sports design wheel from suncoast in US, i will then have it sent to Royal to have it recovered in Alcantara with red stitching and a red band. when i emailed Royal they told me they do the red band in leather not red Alcantara.
does anyone know is this how it is done on the GT3 wheels?

ooh no. that is how they look on the RS and supposed too.

it would look TOTAL GASH if the air bag bit was covered. not good at all.

Blue alcantara with blue stitching - lighting not best for photos - getting it fitted tomorrow I hope - ideally would have liked it a little more chunky but better than original

So in the end he has recovered the rear part of the wheel for you in the same material as the rim?

Yes, he did - it was leather, so it could be recovered in the same material.

Have driven it for a couple of trips now and feel is much better than original one. Pleased with it

I had wondered if the OEM leather covered ones were just leather on top of vinyl but your experience would indicate that this is not the case. Enjoy!

Can Jack make the stupidly thin 997 steering wheel thicker?

Thanks, sorry one last question - when he does it I'm assuming the steering wheel don't just feel like some cheap sponge has been stuck in, but it still feels like OEM type quality?

Yes - it feels like a normal wheel - just thicker!

Any view on who's the very best, price-no-object, wheel re-trimmer in the UK now?

I want the wheel to be redone to the factory standard of fitment and stitching - but adding a little girth to make it chunkier in the hand?
