My Cayman 981 fuek filler-flap solenoid 'froze'; the release was useless (pulled hard and could feel cable stretching; can confirm it works directly on the solenoid pin...) - but just had a visit from a nice AA-man.

He removed the solenoid though the flap in the arch - we undid a plastic retainer behind the door to release the emergency cable so the whole unit was free.

The pin was indeed fast-stuck in the 'out' position. It seems that the plastic pin is a close fit in the housing, and my guess is the last time it popped out, it micro-welded to its housing - it took a decent push to free it, after which the solenoid worked freely. So we greased the pin both ends, and put it back.

In my opinion, with grease, it's better than new.

I enclose a pic of it just removed.

FWIW I would pop some grease on the pin in situ and operate a few times. This might be a yearly 'insurance-fix' for me...
