Autocar (Steve Sutcliffe) is on the hunt for 911 owning PHers who might be interested in supplying their cars for a 'The 911 is 50' anniversary meet taking place on Feb 11/12 at Silverstone. The meet will become a major feature for a future issue of Autocar and will be the main cover story too.

Many cars have already been sourced but they are still in need of an original example of the 911 (so any car from '63 up to and including a '73 RS) and a 997 of any derivative.

The cars will be driven (but not with any particular anger) and owners will need to be there all day on the 11th and until approx lunchtime on the 12th too. Lots of nice pictures and video footage will be available for owners afterwards, and the whole event has been sanctioned by Porsche GB.

If you are interested, or would just like more information, please send an email to Autocar.

Thanks in advance guys.

Is the meet an Autocar only shoot, or a larger gathering? i.e. if not involved in the shoot, is it possible to come along with a 911 and watch proceedings?

Not too sure to be honest, but the email linked above will reach Autocar so it's worth asking.

I think they only want a 997 without deviated stitching.

I wonder if my 911 Sport Classic would suit?

I sent a mail to the address provided but it bounced back saying "this user doesn't have a yahoo account". Did anyone else get this?

Anyone have any idea what the format of the day is or are we expected to hang around waiting for our cars to be driven?

Thanks

the email worked for me but he said he already has a 997 so doesn't need the sport classic. Go figure.

Living within spitting distance of Silverstone, I offered up my 997 GT3rs, They didn’t want that either??

Not that I would have been letting them drive it, but we never got to that stage, just a polite No thanks.

The Autocar guys had so mant responses, thanks to all who responded. In the end they received more emails than they ever expected!

Big thanks from all at Autocar to all the many PHers who replied to our cry for help.

To be honest we were overwhelmed with the response, but it just goes to show how united us car nuts actually are.

Cheers again
Sutters
Thanks from us too smile
