Whatever happened to the 2010 sports classic
Discussion
I think I'm right in saying the rarest modern 911...more rare than GT3 rs4.0
Putting aside the comments of a carrera in drag,
It is a great looking car
Built and approved by Porsche factory (not a third party aka RUF)
Some very bespoke components (roof, interior etc)
Very exclusive, and well recognised by those that know their Porsches
Oh an did I say great looking

just 1 sport classic per dealership and to be sold only to customers who had been loyal to the brand for many years.
10 have now been exported leaving only 22 cars in the UK.
Jay Kay Recently bought the Oakfields car I believe.
Basically if you drive one you aint never gonna see another one on the road.
I think they will be back at list price within a few years and then maybe continue to climb from there.
The lowest used price seen was £108K for a 14K mile car from Porsche Silverstone that sold with 3 days.

The fact its really a Carrera S with the full Technik catalogue thrown at it , unique colours and a ducktail spoiler doesn't mean too much because its a pukka Porsche limited edition never the less.
And the wide body and the funny roof, plus the SportDesign body bits, not to mention the Exclusive touches to the interior. Mermaid said:

I followed one on my way to work a couple of times, this was a few years ago - at the time I was driving a brand new GT silver 997.2 S . The Sport Classic was simply stunning! In a completely different league.

Maybe he has two then?! I saw his brand new one waiting for collection at Reading last August. It had been delayed a long time but I can't remember why.Jay Kay Recently bought the Oakfields car I believe.
Looks nice in pics, but in the 'flesh' it's a stunning, stunning, stunning car.

That would make more sense, I read on a forum somewhere that his Sport Classic had been spotted in York and it then showed a pic of the oakfields car parked up in York somewhere.Looks nice in pics, but in the 'flesh' it's a stunning, stunning, stunning car.

I absolutely love my 911 Sport Classic!!!
Ive had 911's for 25 years and this car is the one for me.
Ive done the GT3's and the PDK Turbo's and had moved on to a Ferrari 430 Scuderia
but they simply dont work, amazing amazing but drive you mental.
I wanted a serious car, but needed to slow down a bit on public roads after the Scud
and really it just seemed a great choice.
I read the write ups and it was obvious there's a lot more to this car than a carrera with
a power kit. One write up described it as "The best street car in the world"
I have had it for 8 months now and it is superb.
I have had my Sport Classic for 18 months now and am still completely in love with it.Ive had 911's for 25 years and this car is the one for me.

You need to see the car for what it is - a beautifully executed and very rare limited edition that looks jaw droppingly good and drives even better. It is not simply a dressed up GTS.
I think the residuals speak for themselves in a crap market but I suspect like me, other owners of this car buy it for different reasons. The attention this car gets is crazy and it stands next to many supercar marques with ease. It remains one of the best 911's for me personally and depending on your needs is a useable, provocative and fun car. Ticks all my boxes.

I agree about the looks. You need to see the car for what it is - a beautifully executed and very rare limited edition that looks jaw droppingly good and drives even better. It is not simply a dressed up GTS.
How does it drive better than a GTS - is there anything different? AFAIK same power, chassis,LSD,suspension drop or am I missing something.

So a bit of tat that some will be impressed with-- does it drive any better than a GTS?
Well it sure is worth a hell of a lot more.Ironically in the case of another GTS- the M3 GTS that is "worth" & cost twice the price of a M3 Competition Pack is not easy to move on, and yet IMO packs more special things than the standard car - bigger engine, better brakes, Akro exhaust.

No, it drives the same apparently - it was the Sport Classic that paved the way for the GTS or so I read. The only difference is the PCCB's fitted on the SC.How does it drive better than a GTS - is there anything different? AFAIK same power, chassis,LSD,suspension drop or am I missing something.

Nice write up.For a Porsche aficionado, it is an attractive proposition.
This statement, from the article, is a fair summary : "Yet this car has absolutely nothing to do with logic or rationality. The Porsche 911 Sport Classic is all about emotion."
Sports Classic or a Gen 2 RS?
