Hi guys, just put a deposit down on a gt3 997 gen 1. I noticed there was no Bose symbol on the door speaker as in my 997 cab. Was this an option? I thought Bose was standard on the 997?

Had Bose in my C2S and it was very good.

Also had the Premium Stereo in my 3.8RS like Woppum and it is pretty good in comparison. Although you get more road and exhaust noise in RS which sutis the more hardcore nature of the car, so didnt really miss it in the end.

Get the window down and wind her up the revs and GT3's have a lovely howl smile Bose will be a distant memory!

Congratulations! It's an amazing piece of kit and quite a bargain for the money!

Hit the sport button and put your foot down, you'll then realise you don't need a stereo

No you're not, really I'd be surprised if you switch the radio on for the first three months.

The noise of the engine and the lack of soundproofing would probably make the Bose somewhat redundant. The 997 GT3 is a remarkably civilised place to be, but a quiet, sedate soundstage it is not!

Mine has the Sound Package Plus (?) which makes for an OK radio/CD but TBH without DAB or any kind of media interface (I have a griffin FM modulator) the quality of the stereo is a bit of a moot point. For cars from 2006-08, the ICE is more like that from the 90's, but then that's not the main reason for buying one is it?

. +1, the only stereo you will need is that Mezger, had the sound package plus, but don't think I ever turned it on in mine..!

Thanks for the replies guys, now I have a question I almost daren't ask.

The car I have a deposit on is at keighley sports and prestige, I've heard some bad things about this dealer in the past but both the car and the dealer seem spot on. Got a good part ex on my c2 cab and the car look immaculate.

Does anyone know anything about this motor? Think it was sporting the reg C12UTT by it's last owner?

Well you are buying the car not the dealer, but a few threads on here would suggst a thouragh search of history and an independant inspection might be worthwhile

Personally I would have avoided this dealer. But now you have deposit down - make sure the car is right and get it in writing what kind of warranty / support they will provide.

Inspection an absolute must. And by someone who knows these cars, not your average joe.

Try google. PH threads often closed on them, may be other forums where you can find out.

You'd be better asking what they've done right, it'll be a much shorter list!

Some reading for you - http://www.lancerregister.com/search.php?searchid=...

I`d suggest a proper PPI before going any further and get piece of mind for a couple hundred quid. Is your deposit refundable ?

Great advice wink

The stereo is probably the least used thing in my GT3 (apart from the mirrors! * joke * !)
