I have two theories:

1. Air cooled owners spend their free time grooming their beards and dressing in Tyrolean lederhosen in homage to Bavaria

2. We don't have enough RMS / IMS / complete engine failures to report/moan about smile

Any excuse to post a photo of my 3.2 Carrera

Yep Im still here.

Ive had water and aircooled from 1980's 911's through to 997. There are lots that appeal to me but I think the older ones have more charachter and can be enjoyed at more sane speeds.

My current air cooled baby

Here's a question for the air-cooled afficianados - my 964 is being refurbished (rust removal) - I'm putting Cup mirrors on to replace the flags.

However I really like D90's... But it's begging for Cup 1's - should I or shouldn't I?

Thanks, I've been asked a few times but like the old flags for now. I have a pair of cups that need a re paint so who knows once that's done wink

My 964 had Cup 1s but to go over 964rs brakes.

I think nice colour D90's can look lovely and if you dont have big brakes then stick with them and see how they look once you have the mirrors are on.

17" Cups?

hmmmm, once upon a time I would have def said 17" Cup 1s. But lately I saw a 964 with D90s and lowered a little. It looked just sooo right.

As a man who owned a 964 and changed to Cup 1s, (but not from D90s) I'm amazed how my taste has changed. I do think colour has a say though, mine was black, and it did look great on 17" Cups

Well mine came with Cup 2's when I bought it so waited for a set of 17' cup1's to come up for sale. Tidy but they needed a re -furb and now spot on.

I think most have found other forums such as 911uk and Rennlist is very popular for the air cooled gang but Pistonheads is still one I visit on a regular basis just don't post much. The majority of water cooled guys I've ever met do appreciate "old school" and there's nothing wrong with the Beard and Ale banter it's all part of the fun for me. Start a pic thread for sure but don't let's get in to a how much my cars worth thread it bores me to death sleep One of mine for Marky:

Looking good Des, like a lot, you've been fettling again!!
By the way did you replace the air-cooled foot wear?

That pic tickles me everytime. hehe

Lovely car Dozzer, similar to my old one. 964s are the sweetspot for me and I'm sure I'll be back in one, one day.

Horrible old bitsa. My first 911. Yes, I like to learn the hard way. wink

Lovely 964 C2 manual. Lovely thing and not as far behind my Turbo as the figures would suggest.

My 3.3 Turbo. I loved that car.

The current steed. The devils work.

Some stunning cars on here. My urge for a nice impact bumper car with wide fuchs and a ducktail is as present as ever too. Lees wheel thread doesn't help. smile

Have you got those 10's on yet?

N24 I'm still a cup mirror and Cup1's type of guy. That wheel is an iconic Porsche wheel and only pushed into 2nd place by the glorious Fuch.

Having said that a 964 riding at a nice height with a mint set of D90s on it is still a pretty thing.

Hi Steve,
that there's a job I don't envy. Always worth the results though. What are you using?

Hey mate,

My urge for a red GT3 is always present.

I tell you what, when you think your sick your choice and and think Im sick with my choice, come down and we will do 50 miles with you in the red one and me in the wide one, then you in the wide one and me in the red one.

In the eve we can sink some beers and contemplate.
