Prospective 991 GT3 Owners Discussion
Discussion
There is a Boxster 981 thread for prospective owners which I found very useful for discussing options available on the cars and seeing images of cars as they arrived, although I'm sure this audience is much smaller I'm sure it will be a comfort for those of us with a long wait ahead.
I've placed my order with Leicester OPC and am 7th in the queue to the best of my knowledge so will be looking at the second batch of cars which I'm not totally unhappy about but ask me again in November when some lucky peeps are taking delivery of their GT3's! Leicester OPC have invited me along to the GT3 Cup racing at Donington in April to ease my pain which is very good of them, and I also have an invite to the Porsche Experience Centre to drive a 911 which I might just take them up on
I think I have made my mind up on colour and am now settled on Guards red as below, my build is http://www.porsche-code.com/PE8AJ2N4
So if anybody needs a bit of GT3 love to help them through the months ahead to make themselves feel a little closer to their new purchases then fire away!
First person to mention the lack of manual is a cock knocker, well second after me that is LOL!!!

Old Trout has just put his order in at Leicester, so you're behind him ....
I don't think I could wait until what- last quarter of 2014?
That's a long time!
Anyway, for what it's worth I think the red looks superb in the pics, and would also be my choice with white a close second.
But no manual 'box.......

I'm 3rd on the list at my OPC.I've placed my order with Leicester OPC and am 7th in the queue to the best of my knowledge so will be looking at the second batch of cars which I'm not totally unhappy about but ask me again in November when some lucky peeps are taking delivery of their GT3's! I need to decide between a basic spec GT3 which I will keep for 12 months and then exchange for a Turbo / Turbo S or a much higher spec (daily driver) to keep for a longer period.
Currently debating whether to go for White, Grey, Blue or Red paint!
The red looks very good in that picture!

Would it matter, if say every one that had paid the 10k deposit irrespective of were they are in the queue, were able to receive there car this year, as in bums in seats for 31.12.13…..mmm interesting
this is my thinking, it looks like Porsche have geared up for manufacturing larger numbers.I saw and sat in the car in Geneva and was quiet impressed overall, although it does look a little bigger - which it is.
I was told there was likely to be a few more options available later, but of course no indication of what these might be, can't see them being anything major to be honest.
They also indicated the centre locks had been 'improved', but again no real info.
I also asked about the RS but once again no info, although it did sound as if there would definitely be one.
If I go for it will hopefully be next spring delivery, red with ceramics is looking favorite.
Does anyone know when the first driving reviews will be done, keen to find out how exactly this rear wheel steering improves things. I say improve as I can't beleive they'd add the weight of the system without there being a significant benefit, which hopefully will be felt on the road and not just the track.

Bit of an about face though. Weren't you told numbers were going to be quite limited by a reliable source?Alpinestars said:
So do I. It would make the outgoing MANUAL car more valuable
Yes I agree completely, I have a 430 Scuderia and the values on these are rock solid, if anything going up since the introduction of the 458 which is almost certainly a better/faster car, so the same will apply to the 997/991 I would guess.Geoff997 said:

There are a lot of 997 owners who would be VERY interested in what way they have been improved!
I suspect the only 'improvement' is the latest revised hubs as on the Gen 2 GT3, otherwise I think this would have been mentioned before now, they certainly don't look any different from the outside. There are a lot of 997 owners who would be VERY interested in what way they have been improved!
I did change a CL wheel myself for the first time a couple of weeks ago, with the required torque wrench I found it pleasantly straightforward and quick.
