I've got it working fine with the USB flash memory and also the Jukebox, which incidentally, having bought a tiny 64gb Scandisk drive I can find no reason to use. I don't however use an iPod in the car.

hmm - I wonder if it has anything to do with the software on the PCM ?

mine is a May 2012 build boxster and I think yours is a lot newer so may have updated software.

I certainly cannot seem to get any album art displayed and there is no mention of a jukebox on my system ?

I have the Bose PCM - will check software revision later and post back

Mine's a late 2012 build (delivered in December) and it has the jukebox functionality (PCM 4.3 IIRC) but I don't have a solution to the artwork issue - not really a big deal for me personally as aside from forgetting about the iPod being connected, the system works just fine

I have done some work on this.

The album artwork must be embedded on every track in the album for it to show up on the PCM. So it may look OK on your iPhone / iPod but will not display on the PCM. To fix this, in iTunes select the 1st track in an album that does not show its artwork on the PCM. Then right click on it and select Get Info. From here you will be able to view the artwork for each track. If a track has no artwork you can get iTunes to download the artwork. This should fix the artwork problem on your iPhone / iPod. FYI track information is not transmitted when using a Bluetooth connection to listen to music.

The 2nd problem regarding USB and Jukebox artwork relates to artwork not being embedded in the track. It should be noted that iTunes does not always embed track artwork. It stores it outside of the track. So sometimes you will see artwork and sometimes not.

For artwork to show it must be embedded in the track.

I convert all of my tracks to .mp3. This can be done using iTunes. I then have a program on my Apple Mac that downloads and adds the artwork to all the album tracks.

Hope this helps.

I'm having exactly the same problem with my 2013 boxster S with Bose system.
I'm using an Ipod classic wich is a few years old, and i was wondering to buy a newer one but by reading this i dont think that will help.

I have complaint to Porsche several times, got 2 or 3 software updates(i dont even remember how many) but no help.
They even contacted Porsche engineering in Stuttgart but the only answer was that this problem is not a known problem, they've never heard of this problem before and it must be a problem of my Ipod.

But now i've found a "workaround" that helps in nearly all cases.
Wenn putting in the key, then wait a few seconds before starting the engine...thats all.
So when i open the car door i put in the key before i sit in the car, then i sit in, buckle up in a relaxed manner start the engine.....and voila ....i have cover art. (It does not always work when the pcm has been in NAVI mode when I left the car.)

Try it out! I'm curious to know wether i could help you.

Sorry for my english, I'm from Germany

Music playing software for computers can use sources other than a tag embedded in the file for the artwork, sometimes going on-line to find it automatically. For use in portable devices I embed the artwork in each individual mp3 file's tags. I don't let iTunes or MediaMonkey or Windows Media Player edit the tags for my mp3s. I it do it using Mp3tag.

http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

All too often iTunes, MM or WMP will mess with the tags depending on how they are set up. Using Mp3tag keeps it all under my control.

SOLVED IT:

iPhone is iOS 9.x (doesn't matter- tried with different software levels).

PCM is 4.52

If album artwork is visible on iPhone/iPod via USB in glove box it will show on screen.

First stage is to get the album artwork to show on PCM, once you have this press the info button next to the selection dial. Then choose details iPod.

You will now have a larger picture of album artwork and see more of the album/artist/track title.

When the car is locked and left and then started back up the default screen is info. Just press the detail iPod onscreen option and voila: ALBUM ARTWORK EVERYTIME......

Not had any issue since using this process.

Note: get the album artwork visible before selecting Sat Nav destination- this will cause an issue!
