By the way, welcome to PH stg. I know this isn't my forum but I'm sure the people on here will be able to help you in your search for your first Porsche.

If you change your mind I'll always be able to find you a space in the Noble forum though!!

Oh, and if you get that red GT3 I will be extremely jealous. GO ON YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!!!

Miken/STG,

If you're ever up Milton Keynes way, then give me a shout, i'll be happy to give you a taste of GT3 experience.

Problem is, once you're bitten, it gets very expensive from there onwards, but very rewarding.

You know you want it !!!!

i went to the Autocar experience day at Bedford in summer with Noble. I got to do 2 laps in an M400.
I had been really looking forward to it because I had heard so many great things about the car.

I was disappointed though.

Undeniably it is astonishingly quick, and it did seem to handle really well ( I know you cant tell alot from 2 laps), but the internal/external build quality ,ergonomics and visibility really put me off. Plus the pedals are so needlessly close, its plain ridiculous.

If the car was priced at say 35/40K tops I think it would be a bargain. But 56k is way too much.
I paid alot less for a 9000 mile MK1 GT3 which may not be quite as quick in a straight line (but not by much), but it seems far more car for the money.
It really wasnt a patch on my gt3.

Congratulations Stg, you've got yourself a fantastic car. Is it a MK 1 or MK2? Comfort of Clubsport. Colour? I've got a MK 1 Clubsport in Speed Yellow.

Its a mark 1 (99) comfort.

Whilst I've given it a good look over and there are a few small things being done to it + service etc, besides the standard checking of all components etc and the dealer is reputable, are there any checks I should really be doing before driving it off the forecourt?

I've heard there is a registered GT3 list somewhere as well. Where exactly is that?

I spent a truly great day at Silverstone on Thursday on one of the last track days of the year at the controls of an M400, it didn’t miss a beat

The car is without doubt and extremely well sorted piece of equipment and round the full GP circuit there was precious little to touch it including the Mosler the was growling its way round

As I type though I have to ask myself the question is this the best way to invest £56k into something which to all intents and purposes will only be for track days? For this kind of loot I can’t help but feel that a GT3 may prove the better bet or more importantly a Club Sport 993 RS or for a lot less than that a 964 RS

If you could get a tooth brush in the Noble then it would be an even harder call, but…

Stg, when I bought my GT3 earlier this year, I initially contacted Richard Long, the GT3 Register Secretary at PCGB (email, gt3@porscheclub.com)and quoted the chasis no and Richard was able to verify that I was buying a genuine GT3.

I would also strongly recommend that you join the mailing list at GT3 Titanic,a forum of GT3 enthusiasts with a lot of technical knowledge. The website is www.titanic.co.uk/porsche. The main man there is Gary Bullen (email gt3reg@aol.com). Both Richard and Gary were both extreemly helpful.

Congratulations to stg on picking up a very nice looking car. I knew as soon as you clapped eyes on the Zanzibar one that it was only ever going to be a gt3 from that point on. I am really pleased for you mate..

Thanks to Glenn for the offer, I am sure we will be visiting MK soon, we'll give you a shout - maybe take you out in the Noble too..

One the whole I find myself agreeing with the posts above about where 56k should go. As much as I love my Noble, I was abslutely bowled over with the GT3. Dare I say one of (if not THE) finest bit of all round automotive kit made in the sub 80 grand level (maybe even more). Splendid.

Also, a big thank you to the kind gentleman who decided to put his cigarette out on my car whilst I was waiting at the traffic lights in Streatham today. I suspect he is not a regular reader of PH, and take consolation from the fact that he seemed to light it up purely for the purpose of using the Noble to extinguish it. So at least that little bit of pleasure cost him 25p. GIT

Also, a bit thankyou to Camtune - both the partners in the business seemed to spend most of Saturday talking to me and stg about Porsche. I was very impressed with their operation and their attitude. Top marks from me!

Cheers

Mike

I've successfully managed to fit a toothbrush in mine Coming from an Elise it doesn't feel too cramped as you can get a remarkable amount in the bespoke luggage. Certainly not as practical as a Porsche, but each to his own.

I'm somewhat puzzled by comparisons to a brand new noble vs a 3 year old GT3 in terms of cost though!

Anyone interested in a mint 964RS? Am going down the caterham route.....

Ferg, you won't fit in

And those Caterhams do more than 70mph, so you're still not safe

Always a good choice tho'; you know I'm a fan. Make sure it's at least a Superlight R, and be prepared for the slightly more fragile characteristics of the engine/brand.
