What next, if not Pork?

My ultimate would be a Ferrari F50
I saw one in a Garage in Surrey somewhere a couple of years ago, and it was love at 1st sight !!!
It was around £300k then, so god knows what it'll be worth now.
Even if i put my GT3 and Turbo Cab down as pert ex, i'd still have to send the wife out at night to pay for the rest !!!!
Now where's that red light bulb again ???

Diablo 6.0 in giallo with carbon wing no major VAT loss, no instant depreciation, no prisoners, no contest
.... a very good choice, I went from having had several Porsche to a Diablo (although not a 6.0L.....YET!!!), and can recommend it. Insurance came down as a result and servicing has been no more expensive....YET!!!
Saying that, I was at my local OPC drooling over a 996TT at the week-end.

I would say Ferrari 355/360 (depending on funds).
However, everyone keeps saying that Gallardos are going to drop in value big time soon. If they got down to 70-80 grand it would be very tempting. There was a yellow one outside my house the other day. It looked mad. The only downer was that the rear reminded me of a (new shape) MR2 from a distance! I think it was the rear lights that did it. I also wish it had scissor doors. But, it is one hell of a desirable car, and fairly sensible too I should think due to the Audi input.
An alternative might be a Maser 4200. The fancy red one in Evo this month looks lovely.

the 996TT is a hard one to follow, I have gone through the same thought pattern..Gallardo, 360, DB9, but they are all compromised after the TT & depreciation will a BIG issue on all once the initial fuss dies down, saw the first RHD gallardo for under 100k in the Times, give it a year-ish & they will be in the £70k's I think!! I am still pondering a 997TT but will it really be different enough & with waiting lists already over a year speculators would be the only route. I think I'm going to run the TT for another year!!!

It would have to be a Murcielago or 550/575 - however, the problem comes in finding something with anything like the overall deftness.
Could you take the liberties in a big Lambo, even a 'benign beast' like the Audified one? The Maranellos seem to offer broadly similar real world dynamics, infinite torque, damping and a particular, understated bespoke specialness, found virtually nowhere else.
In other words, I'd phone that Marlowe chap and ask for his best GTR variant, comfort-spec!

Yes, I think the TT is a hard act to follow, the banana is the first sports car I have not wanted to sell after 4 weeks..honest!
Other cars are faster, handle better, look better....but none combine all three in such a cohesive package as the TT IMHO.
That said if I had the means to do so, a RUF R turbo would be on the cards....full 590 Nardo spec and all. I cannot think of another car that does the business so completely as the three R turbo models Germanic white socks and black slip-ons here we come.

If it's not going to be German pork, then I'd probably go for British beef, mad cow or not. I've always loved Astons - one of my early wet-dream cars was a V8 Vantage, so I'd be looking at AM's both modern and classic.
Whether it is true or not, my perception of the Italian exotica is of fragility and painful running costs - maybe unwarranted in the case of the modern machines. So developing a taste for Italian pasta would require a bit more thought and time spent trawling the web for info.

550 Maranello was a contender and LHD were the same Euro as my 996TT but it is not the exciting drive I had been lead to believe and the peddle box is so tight I could barely fit my shoes in it. Suspension softer then the porker too.
A Lambo beckons or perhaps an ultima. As for mainstream cars for me there simply isn’t anything else out there at the moment.
Might go the other way however and get a 600BHP Ultima – now that would be fun

My next step is a 996TT, but apart from that I would probably buy 2 cars, a nice comfy but capable motorway cruiser (Merc E class, BMW 5 series etc) and a Caterham for track days and hooliganism.
Would like to own a ferrari for 6 months just to have the "been there, done it" factor, but couldn't have one for longer than that, same with a lambo.
As for a DB9 etc, sorry, Astons just don't push my buttons.

If TVR ever solve their massive reliability problem (admitting the problem would be a start), it'll be my next car. Maybe.
Also looking at getting a Fisher fury or Phoenix and racing in the 750MC RGB championship. So much better value than caterhams (what isn't?) and much more fun to IMHO.
