Well after following Daz around Europe for a week and being totally impressed by his car I've joined the list of people he's converted to Porsche ownership. The day after we returned I went up to the Reading centre and trawled through their car park finally deciding on a 2003 C4S. Picked it up on Monday and am still in schoolboy mode.
I'm sure I'll have loads of questions, first being does everyone run them on 98Ron fuel only.
Will be at VW on Sunday, hope some of you are there.
Regards
Mark

Nice to have you here.

I run my 2001 Boxster S on Super unleaded only, be it 97 or 98 ( try to put Optimax in it when I can which is 98.3). I do this because the handbook says to do it.

I believe the premium on Optimax pays for itself because it offers better fuel economy.

Welcome aboard Mark.

Glad you are enjoying the car. Look forward to seeing it at BTaP. Does Rose prefer it to her old 993C4S?

In answer to your initial query I only run my car on 98 RON petrol , which means Optimax in the UK.

If anyone from Porsche UK or the Gods in Stuttgart are reading this, it is true, I act as an unpaid salesman. My previous offer (made verbally to my OPC) to fly out to Nurburg at my own personal expense and drive your development Turbos around the Ring, to provide customer feedback was genuine and should be taken seriously.

Shame they've already got a guy called Walter to do that

Walter is a professional driver. I was thinking more along the lines of Porsche getting feedback from one of the clueless gimps who actually writes £100k cheques and buy the cars.

They probably do car clinics or something. They will look for the most disinterested GP or accountant with a TT and pay them 250GBP for half a day to say how they are getting an Aston next and the Porsche is good because you can golf clubs in the back. Face it mate, you are not target audience and your opinion is worthless to them

This is patently obvious to me on the basis my car has a ferking sunroof.

Rose says that the refinement level has come on leaps and bounds since '97 and is looking forward to giving it some stick but doesn't want to take my toy away just yet.

can't speak for the accountants but the day I can afford a TT or an aston will be the day pork really does start to fly. And as a humble 944 driver aspiring to a 964cab, one of the latter's selling points is you cant fit golf clubs in it anywhere (except up your own arse where they belong)

If / when I ever get 'round to buying a TT to take part in such a clinic, folk will assume that this GP stole a load of drugs from the cabinet and flogged them for muchos dosh.

I am still saving though. I want to look like a GP-turned-drug-dealer very much.

I think 'clueless' is a bit harsh Daz

It's true though Mr Porsche GB - this man has converted in the last 4 months 3 people that I know... and you wouldn't need to give him a desk, just let him take 'em out in a car for 20 minutes

p.s Nice colour Mark - looks very similar to Rods'.
