I see from an article in the latest Christophorus magazine:
'The RS is not limited, but until the production window closes in spring 2016, a maximum of two thousand units will find their way to happy new owners'.
There may still be hope of getting one?
Is that not more than double 991, GT3's, thought there was around 800 built?

Why would you still want one if they are going to be so common...?!'The RS is not limited, but until the production window closes in spring 2016, a maximum of two thousand units will find their way to happy new owners'.

991 GT3 - 4k+ and still building cars, probably end up close to 5k.'The RS is not limited, but until the production window closes in spring 2016, a maximum of two thousand units will find their way to happy new owners'.

2000 sounds a lot but that's not so common. It`s unlikely to be more than 4 on average per dealer in the UK that's 35x4=140 + a handful of celebrity cars and the odd car for Porsche GB probably 150 total. however In the past Porsche have been know to squeeze a few more cars than initially intended into various markets. Quite a few dealers in the past have had another extra car here or there. My dealer got an extra 997 GT2 and before that a 996 GT3 Porsche`s business philosophy is to make one less car than the market requires. So we might see 200ish on our roads and tracks. What's more this time around there is no GT2 or GT2RS so they need more GT3RS cars to for fill a wider demand. Regardless of the production number of these cars you ask the question if its going to be more readily available why would we want one? Answer to this is simple. Its going to be the best Porsche 911 GT car built to date. There has been a lot of love and time put into its design. More than any of the recent times RS cars. Porsche have never let us down and this car will be no exception. Its going to be fantastic and it`s not just about power its about aerodynamics too. Its about the latest technology that relates to fast but safe driving. Just need a wider colour choice although the pictures of the white one looks good. Edited by GR GT2RS on Sunday 3rd May 14:38

What really annoys me is that I would dearly love to buy a GT3 or RS and could stretch to do so but they are unavailable. That leaves me with a choice of a Turbo S or going for another make but nothing fits the bill in terms of space and usability.
Have you got a good relationship with a Porsche dealer?Do you have a £10k deposit down on a GT3RS or a letter of intent to buy one from say a year ago ?

Pretty sure that would not have been enough to secure a car, maybe if I had bought several cars over the last few years then I would have had a chance.Do you have a £10k deposit down on a GT3RS or a letter of intent to buy one from say a year ago ?

I don't think that's necessarily enough either. I think individual dealers decide who gets their allocations but I don't know how they decide. tuffer said:

Your name would of been in the hat when the dealership was deciding who got the cars that they were allocated.
They decide the cars allocation relatively easily. Its all about the support you give their dealership.
This comes in a number of ways and yes you are right its about your history of purchases but it really about always returning the cars back to the dealership for them to sell again. Usually as a trade in. Flog your GT3 privately and that's you almost certainly off the list.
In your case you just haven't had the chance to prove your loyalty to a dealer or the brand as yet.
Maybe you should further consider your second choice The Turbo S its a truly amazing car as I am sure you know. Although its unlikely to retain its value as well as a GT car it`s significantly quicker in most situations on the road. As part of your purchase try and link it to a consideration from your dealer for a 991.2 GT3RS or maybe a 991.2 GT2 (will be amazing) There will be no guarantees but you will be a big step closer. If your dealer gives you the feeling there is no chance try and find a dealer who is more positive. Otherwise its wait until low mileage GT3 prices fall and they may as there are quite a lot currently for sale.
At the moment its tough because everyone sees the GT cars going up in value and Mr Cayenne Turbo and Mr Panamera Turbo man want a slice of the action too and some of these guys are hard to turn down when they are regularly buying these highly profitable models. On top of that you have very wealthy guys who just want one of everything. The competition for GT cars is a lot tougher than it was.

found a slot to get a lhd rs. could sell my gt3 now and buy it fully spec'd and have some change as well. a rs does sound awesome but my head is saying keep the rhd gt3 with the way values are going. would you take the rs ?
Personally I think GT3s have more than peaked in price, and when the Gen2 cars come out they will drastically drop. If you can get enough out the GT3 to pay for the RS I would do it.stef1808 said:

I was in the same boat as you and got a slot for a LHD RS but dropped it as I decided the LHD drive thing was too much of an issue, even if it is basically a track car. Sold the 991 GT3 anyway.DMC2 said:

Anyone got any news about delivery dates - I've been told November. Also OPC said PTS is on the cards -anyone else heard this ?
I chased my French OPC on Monday, he says he will be able to give me the build slot week within the next 7 days. They had no news on paint.Edited by TrackTwit on Friday 15th May 08:07
