If you are just doing track days the wear on components is much lower than a racing environment so llifing isn't the same issue at all. I'd be happy to put a lot more hours on an engine and gearbox in a track day environment. I did a corporate day at Snett the week after I raced in Carrera cup and trundled round quite happily 2 seconds a lap slower all day long. It's racing at 10/10ths that really does the wear damage

Very good point. I do a number of track days very year, but my personal 10/10 is maybe 5/10 for a professional driver…if I get 8;30 BTG on a Ring day I am perfectly happy to pootle around and keep out of the way, and have had no premature wear issues apart from usual MPSC tires going away quickly.PH should have a Like button...

Ha! I'm not adverse to new technology at all, providing it's not all wrapped up in electronic cotton wool.
On saying that, the 991 left me absolutely stone cold and I remain very unconvinced about the engine. I think that for all of the - its the best sports car in the world - hype, Porsche have lost credibility with the new 991 GT3. They really need to get it right with the RS and they know it.
Wouldn't be surprised if we don't see this car for a log time. Personally, I'm going cold on it

Have all the allocations for the GT3 RS already been taken up or are the OPCs still taking deposits?
I bought the last off the line 997 Turbo S Cab Feb'13 (build Dec'12) and has been a great car but i want to do more track days and i only use the car at weekends , so was thinking of moving into the GT3 RS to have more fun with. The Turbo is a great all rounder but its not the same on track as a GT3 clearly.
Ive left a mail with my OPC are have treated me very well over past 12 months but not had any feedback as yet...hence wondered what the view was on this forum?
tks
Alan

I agree the TTS is not the same on track as the GT3, but all the tests say its faster....I disagree....

Agreed. Thats what i was hoping that the 991RS would be - but we both know that it wont
They say hope is the last thing to die...Word on the street is that the final RS pictures are going to be revealed very soon, and that it really is Orange. This could be the highlight of the car...
