A lovely day for drive , but how was the drive ??????
First of all it's only a loan car - I have it for a week (my white one will be arriving sometime in September). For a car that appears to have zero suspension travel (you can't put a finger between the tyre and the wheel arch) it has a remarkably compliant ride.
The PDK gearbox is extremely smooth, it kicks down 2 or 3 gears very quickly allowing you to play a good tune on the exhaust
The brakes are immensely powerful but on the open road you only use a fraction.
The huge wing on the back is very clearly visible in the mirror but doesn't really get in the way.
The steering is quite light but ever so slightly vague in the straight ahead position.
It's quite a practical car with front lifting system (optional extra but essential where I live), lots of storage space for shopping and luggage - perfect as a daily driver (Getting in and out is not easy and I need more practise!)
I can't really say much more from just 40minutes of driving it, on mostly B roads, but I know that on a track it will be awesome - and way beyond my driving capabilities.
Was hoping to have more driving in it today but unfortunately the weather here is just awful.
Tomorrow it will be on the Porsche Aberdeen stand at our local car show - Alford Speedfest (approx 20 miles outside Aberdeen).
(My fingers are crossed for some decent weather next week )

Probabaly the best post on PH this year ! I suppose it has LWB, I'm in a dilema, LWB or Reclining Buckets.
I don't even have the option. If I were to wait for the LWBs it would put me outside the factory delivery window and that would mean skipping the track time and road trips in Europe so it's reclining for me RDMcG said:

According to talk here factory collection is actually available all year round : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...[quote=riosyd]

Having driven 5400 miles in our GT3 my opinion of the steering is that the turn in is very quick and that the faster you go the more the car feels nailed to the road. 150 mph in driving rain felt as though the steering had been tightened up such was the feel. The ability to swop from lane to lane at even higher speeds presents no problem whatsoever. I would guess that the aero is pushing the car onto the road. Quite what the RS will feel like is something to look forward to. To summarise my GT3 is way and above the best performance orientated car that I have ever driven that is also a totally practical tourer. Nothing goes wrong or fails it just delivers thrills by the bucket load!

no aquaplaning/skidding issues in heavy rain at 150mph?Having driven 5400 miles in our GT3 my opinion of the steering is that the turn in is very quick and that the faster you go the more the car feels nailed to the road. 150 mph in driving rain felt as though the steering had been tightened up such was the feel. Potentially great news for 991 GT3 RS owners (especially RSVP911 who had a sharkwerks fitted to his 991 GT3)......
Had a good look under the RS at Silverstone on Sunday and I'm 99% sure that the excellent Sharkwerks 991 GT3 rear silencer bypass will fit to the RS so owners have the option to hear more of the great noise at much lower RPM as opposed to just when you're driving it like you've stolen it!
Richard will agree it transforms the driving experience and enjoyment of the GT3 so no reason it won't do the same on the RS.
Here's some pics of the car from Sunday

Popped to Silverstone myself to have a final look at Lava before confirming my spec - wanted to see it in daylight as I didn't really like it when I saw it originally inside the PEC .I was hoping that it was the lights - unfortunately it wasn't - Lava Orange - not for me : Just not rich enough , looks washed out and not quite right for my eye - it's "OK" but not WOW and it needs to be WOW - I think Blood Orange (Tangerine) is deeper and as such nicer , but unfortunately this isn't available PTS frown
(it looks better - richer and deeper in colour , in the photos than in real life )
