Rich, that's great news. I'm loving my 3 and it's going into JZM next week for a proper track set-up with proper camber, etc. I'm back on track at Silverstone on 6th Dec and looking forward to that. Actually I'm taking a morning drive up to Silverstone tomorrow for brekkie at 0900 - there will be other 3s and RS's there if you fancy it? smile
Morning Terry , just woken up and seen this - thanks for the invite - feeling sorry for myself down to raging hangover - will have to sit this one out smile

Enjoy the dodgems today, lifeofriley? How was the RS on the wet greasy roads this afternoon, if you don't mind me asking?

The straight bits were fine! There was a lot of wet mud on the roads so a bit slower into the bends than normal.
Nevertheless the car was excellent, still got a smile on my face.

I was driving on greasy roads in West Sussex yesterday and the grip from the Dunlops was still very very good. I could not get the tail out even if i pushed (relatively) hard. The only thing is that the front wheels throw up quite a lot of dirt up on the rear arches (where the plastic liner is) so it is probably a good idea to have it protected more than just the factory fitted film.

Agree on all of your observations. I had the car done within an hour of pickup at the factory.

Ours is now on the water. Should be in Sheerness by Monday. Joy of joys it really is going to happen!

It is my intention to cover it in film before taking delivery. Anyone on here used Topaz? If so have you gone for total cover or partial? Also bit cheeky but how much did you pay? I inflicted horrendous chipping on my GT3 and wish to avoid the same happening to our RS.

I have done 1600 miles in mine with one trackway and have had no chipping. Im still contemplating covering it up but getting unsure whether it is worth it. The rear arches (where the factory fitted shield is) get a lot of dirt from the front wheels so there i would cover a bigger area but otherwise it is not too prone to chipping. I guess color is a factor so on a darker color you would see more chipping. With my Aston i got 90% of the chipping within the first week of taking ownership from the factory which means that the water based paint probably needs quite a long time to harden properly.

My worst chipping occured whilst in Scotland with the guys from Tartan Tarmac and others. The roads are fantastic though seem because of the inclement weather to have a lot of loose surfaces. Chasing down vehicles with large rear tyres (Andy GT3RS) meant that my poor car was spattered . My own fault of course so the thought is to try and minimise the problem.

I would guess that a total front end respray to Porsche Approved standard would cost somewhere in the region of £3000. Plus the rear arches take a hammering as well. Plastic for me then! It is a no brainer.

I picked my car up at the factory and had it done in Stuttgart by Schwabenfolia, two guys who do a lot of work for Porsche itself. Different to how it was done with my other cars in Canada.....they cover more. Entire front clip up to the A pillars,, rear flares, mirrors, and a strip across the roof immediately over the windscreen. i tracked the car at the Nurburgring and ran some very quick autobahn runs, felt some and heard some stone and grit impact and after 4700km, nothing at all on paintwork. The cost was EUR1500. Superb job.
