Some of these running in procedures are admirable. However, am I the only one thinking that it's making the car appear so fragile, especially compared to its forbears ?, I was on track within less than 500 miles in my two previous RS's, with zero issues. Mechanical sympathy is one thing, but this just all smells of Porsche not having confidence in its own product. What other cars require this kind of running in process ?
As for the 3000km running in, many of these cars won't do that kind of mileage in a whole year !!! In which case, imagine not being able to properly stretch the cars legs until some point in the 2nd years of the cars life. I'm really looking forward to the car, but all this is becoming a bit 'Italian'
It's the same running in guidance as the 997 cars. Obviously up to the owners how/whether to follow the guides though! As for the 3000km running in, many of these cars won't do that kind of mileage in a whole year !!! Same for me, plus I added the services of Topaz Detailing who did a truly fabulous job on the paintwork which was rounded off with a complete covering of Suntek 2 paint protection. So very pleased.
Robgt3 I talked with your mate at Topaz said he would send the boys to Tewksbury for me too so thanks for the recommendation mate.robgt3 said:

So was thinking of going to Topaz for exactly this - detailing then protection. Are you pleased with the outcome. Car is due in early March so just beginning to think through options. Are the joins on the bumpers noticeable ? Value for money ( or to early to say ! ) arcamalpha said:

If you think of enegy being mass, velocity^2 etc and knowing that for road car engines 8000rpm is really getting serious, I don't see a problem with using 5500-6000-6500. Due to the equation for kinetic energy being squared on velocity, the energy of theengine parts at 6500 are still a lot less than 8000.
What a standard redline for a petrol car, 6700 - 7200? If Porsche cannot make an engine that do less than that from the start off without issues then that is a poor thing.
I'm sure nowadays with modern oils and engines running in is more for the comfort of the carbon/h20 based driving units than the metal ones....

That's just Porsche making sure most of them fail just outside warranty

I cannot dispute your valid points. I am so delighted with my RS and probably being a little precious though my "running in" procedure will not prove to be detrimental in any way. Maybe I'm just being mechanically sympathetic. Like your point about the driving unit.
Off to darkest Wales tomorrow to enjoy Snow, Ice and freezing temperatures, think that I will be pottering around like an old fart! (Running the car in of course)

A bit Italian ?
I don't think so- Speciale was on track in less than 500 miles, after bedding in tyres and brakes.
I am looking forward to the RS- but 1800 miles before it can be seriously tracked is a joke .

Hi, To answer your questions; Not pleased, Delighted! You will not notice any joins, suggest you go for total coverage. On the money subject, considering the time, effort and expertise that went into the detailing process and subsequent Suntek 2 application I consider it money well spent.
What colour are you going for? When I first saw Lava Orange on a GT3RS at Silverstone I was ever so slightly underwhelmed. My RS looks so much brighter! Topaz have brought the paint alive.
agree re the LO at silverstone while the demo car at the Festival of Speed looked much better. Mine is going to be Voodoo blue though! Thanks for the input re Topaz. You have convinced me this is the right thing to do! What colour are you going for? When I first saw Lava Orange on a GT3RS at Silverstone I was ever so slightly underwhelmed. Seriously thinking of buying a LHD GT3RS.
Its priced close to GT3 money.....
I will use it mainly for European trips so LHD works.....
They come with 4 year warranty.....serviced still from Porsche.....
Large European market to sell it back to if required.....
What am I missing with the logic??
Also does anyone know how many RHD and LHD GT3RS have been built in total?

If it's not already in the country you will need to factor the import duty!

It's being done at Porsche reading. My white car was sent there and never even road registered. It was then totally stripped except the dash and carpets to a colour I created. I hVe not fully finalised my design. I have having a few vinal options made next week to look at on the car. Once decided reading have to strip the car again and paint the livery,Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
