Wonder if Porsche will have another crack at improving the RS Ring time of 7.20. My understanding was that the driver was Timo Glock , the track was partially wet and it was only his 3rd lap out. I have read somewhere that the new Turbo S has recorded a 7.18! Well, we can't have that can we?

I'll let you know how I get on in July They aren't just claiming it's 2s faster around the Ring. Porsche have stated it is. And without cup tyres.
The RS is still calibrated/tuned via it's electronics to feel faster/more fun to drive but it is hardly a surprise is it that the turbo s is quicker than the RS nowadays as all the tech the RS has to go quicker the turbo s has, plus more to boot.

It's certainly interesting to compare the Ring lap times, these are taken from Fastestlaps.com / nurburgringlaptimes.com, some cars have multiple times, below are the best per model:
918 Spyder Weissach - 6:57
997 GT2 RS - 7:18
991 GT3 RS - 7:20
991 GT3 - 7:25
991 Turbo S - 7:26
997 GT3 RS 4.0 - 7:27

997 Turbo - 7:38
997 GT3 - 7:42
Cayman GT4 - 7:42

I doubt it, 7 seconds is warp speed ! I doubt the Millennium Falcon could beat that ...etc.

For those of us lucky enough to own a 991 turbo S and 991 GT3RS its quite clear that in most driving situations the Turbo S is quicker. The exception being on a dry circuit. However the satisfaction and driver involvement of the GT3RS is as we all appreciate very special as is the retained value. But don`t let us fool ourselves on a typical British country road with our typical weather the Turbo S is long gone with no drama. GR GT2RS said:

I for one am quite happy with this - I would much prefer to be looking at the rear end of a Turbo S sitting in my RS than sitting in the Turbo , catching an RS in my rear view mirror and wishing I was driving the car behind me Edited by RSVP911 on Friday 29th January 10:58

Have to agree in general with you. For most GT drivers its the involvement and participation that is important. It not how quick you are going its about the journey and the feeling on arrival.Edited by RSVP911 on Friday 29th January 10:58

Couldn't agree more - I had a Turbo (admit it was a 997) - nothing wrong with it , just a bit boring - fast but boring . Have driven a 991 Turbo S though : again fast but compared to the RS , boring . If one didn't have the RS benchmark then I don't believe that I would think this Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
