Its your car. You can do with it what you want. So the word enforcement doesn't really come into play. If you blow up your engine straight out of the factory door you might have a problem with warranty but that is another question. griffgrog said:

Haha it sure will. Just such a shame they enforce this 1800 mile run in period these days.
Just out of interest, how do they enforce the 1800 mile run in?This question made me think though; it appears the 1800mile run-in period, which is probably about 1 years RS driving on average, effectively saves a years warranty payouts (for PAG). Was the same stipulated with the GT3? Also as there will be no high-rev/load shenanigans, there is less likelihood of catastrophic engine failure, so for the first year or so, the chances of stories emerging regarding engine failure, are drastically reduced. Maybe I'm just being cynical...
Well I'll use it to drive to the office and back every day and wake up early on the weekends for drives and meets. Trouble is it's less that 10 miles to the office and back and they will be lonely drive because people are generally too pussy to come out in winter . Spa second week of April I need satisfactory milage on her...

Drive to Spa via Munich, oil change in Stuttgart on the way back - that should help.Richie200 said:
No idea how they enforce (perhaps DME RR or TPS limitation built into the software).

1,800 miles per annum on average? On what evidence do you make that claim - most of the owners on here have done much more than that, as did GT3 owners. This question made me think though; it appears the 1800mile run-in period, which is probably about 1 years RS driving on average, effectively saves a years warranty payouts (for PAG). I think the specified run-in process for the GT3 was the same as the RS.

My guess is they tightened up after all the engine issues with the gt3. It's a silly amount of milage which I don't think is realistic for most people that buy these sorts of carsI think the specified run-in process for the GT3 was the same as the RS.

I suppose a perusal of JZM ads probably offers a clue .
How old is your RS and how many miles?

Probably slightly more, but not a lot more.

Unfortunately I don't have an RS - I did over 6,000 miles in my GT3 in the first year. I did over 1,000 miles in the first coulee of weeks!I suppose a perusal of JZM ads probably offers a clue .

1800 mile run-in period mentioned above - how many trips to TESCOS is that for half of the gt4's and RS's we have on this site lots I guess!
Without wanting to start a class war I'm more of a waitrose man.... I don't know must be 45 odd round trips for me!
Should be done before the Christmas shop......

Chill fellow, nowhere above is a 'claim' made, using words like appears and probably should have made it quite clear that no claim was made, just merely a casual observation. As someone pointed out above, just look at the mileage of cars for sale and you will see that these are not driven. I'm very happy to see that you buck the trend and have the cajones to actually drive yours
