Does anyone have any details of the specs on the RS? Porsche appear to be doing a good job of keeping the suspense surrounding this car at a heightened level.

Dealer response, as of a couple of weeks ago:

"As you maybe aware, there has been no official announcement that we will
produce a 991 GT3RS and until this is the case then it can only be viewed
as speculation".

Fair enough. Of course the price that someone is prepared to pay is influenced to some extent by the list price. So there is an 'anchor' based on that list price and people don't want to pay more than £x on top of that price. I wonder, given the performance and the price of the car, whether it would have had the same demand at £120k list rather than £100k. Would people still be happy to pay a £10k premium to get into a car in that scenario - I suspect yes, but we will never know!
I suppose the previous gen 2 GT3 and RS price differential could be some guide....question is though is the £85k GT3 best compared to the £105k 3.8 RS or the £128k 4.0 RS the latter of which coincidentally had roughly the same production numbers (24) as is anticipated for the 991 RS (c28)......

Assuming a price point of say £115k for the 997 RS, this is £30k more than the 997 GT3....or 35 percent more on the £120k assumed price point for the 991 GT3 giving £150k and £162k respectively.......so a mid figure of £156k sounds about right for a basic 991 GT3 RS.....yes

This could of course be total bollocensored and decidedly on the low side as Porsche will clearly be fully aware the RS will probably be 'better' than the £200k+ Speciale, will inevitably want to recoup some lost monies from the GT3 saga and also may want to partly reflect and cash in on the insane premiums currently being obtained by the 4.0......thumbup

copy over from my reenlist posting:
in the typically well-informed german PFF forum it is claimed that the RS intro will not happen this year in paris but the earliest in detroit next year (january). in paris porsche will show the pre-facelift GTS and some SUV.

that will be very disappointing news - this further delay in 991 RS launch.

The same site states the following spec:

The 991 GT3 RS is as follows:
- 500 ps
- No rear (seats I assume)
- Hood, roof and fenders made of CFRP
- Seats of 918 Spyder
- Wheels off the 918 Spyder 20 & 21 "
- Under 1400 kg
- From EUR 175,000
- 4.0 l engine and PDK (no manual switch, no turbo engine!)
- Launch Q1 / 2015
- The RS has very much driven NS in 7:20 !!!

Anyone know if this is correct

It all seems eminently believable.

175,00 Euros should translate to £140k but will probably be more, so a fair hike. "Cheap" compared to the used value to the 64RS, 6RS, Green 7.2 RS & 7.2RS.

The roof will definitely be magnesium but the rest corresponds with my info. Seats for US market still being sorted out.

Lots of mumbling about cost in this thread. I think it's irrelevant as they are only making a small number and many of them going to VIPs.

Given it's going to be PDK, it has to be a development of the existing GT3 engine, based on the expected volumes.

The 918 seats now appear on the US configurator of the GT3... so I would say they have sorted it.. I am checking if I can get them on my Oct build GT3 (non RS)

I was wondering, we've put our hat in the ring for the RS, but what are the chances of getting one? Between my dad and i, we've had 5 of their cars in the last few years, but not of the GT3 or GT3 RS variety. So am i at an advantage, or disadvantage? Will it be like winning the lottery or - assuming c.500 will be made - will i have a fair chance?

I have not been asked for a deposit by the OPC yet, they invited me (i.e. i didn't ask/beg/plead) to submit my interest.

No chance at all, I'm third on my OPC's list, they took my deposit of 10 K Jan 2014 and they will only get one, I'd say all are spoken for. Nothing to do with deposits or letters of intent. The number of cars will be very small. But like everyone else on here I would love to be proved wrong !

I'd dare to suggest that there is no 'first, second or third on the list' but more like that people are selected closer to the time of launch based on their potential to bring further revenue to the dealer in the future?

Porsche will dictate who gets a car, ie VIP's first then that'll be it! weeping
