Is there anyone on here that would be able to measure the width of the car at the wheels ( front and or rear, whichever is widest ). I've just heard mine is coming on 4th Jan 2016 and want to collect it on my BJ Trailer so need to be sure it will fit or not ? I would resort to taking the factory stated width but want to be very sure. Thanks in advance. Answer in milimetres please.

Reason I ask that is that IIRC on the 7.2 RS the front was wider, or maybe it just felt that way !

GT3RS2 said:
majordad the measurements are as follows....sidewall to sidewall of the tyres rears...1915mm and the fronts measure 1875mm sidewall to sidewall, hope this helps and please allow a few millimeters for error but take it from me these measurements are pretty spot on!!!
Thank you very much for the prompt reply, that's a great help. And happy to learn I was wrong re front being wider than rear.

OPC Belfast had mine in my 7.2RS and I hope they will again this time when I collect the 991 RS on 5th January. I can't sleep at night thinking about it, my mind just won't relax. I imagine opening the car, getting in, fiddling with the belts and adjusting the seat and putting in the key and starting the engine, then I wake up and the dream repeats itself !

Yes to the darker one ( Basalt ?) . I wonder what the GTRS decal from the 7.2 RS would look like if applied in the same position as on the Gen 2 car? Maybe you'd need it slightly repositioned cos of vents etc and maybe slightly smaller to fit?

That is the best photo of any 991 RS I've seen so far. Enjoy and safe motoring !

All the colours look well, IMHO there are no bad Porsche colours. It's the light that makees the difference. That's why I agonised over LO. Under the lights at Geneva Show it looked strange, parked at Silverstone on a glaring May day it looked washed out. On your typical grey UK/Irish day it looks stunning. As Phooey and others said, it where you see them and the light.

That colour ! My hope and bet was it's a northern european dull day colour and in that photo it looks like it is.

IMHO same applies to RS, you just could not shift 7 gears fast enough with the required accuracy. Shifting 6 in my 7.2 RS was difficult.

And just to prove I'm totally irrational in my likes, I'd choose a CGT over a 918. Reason being the V10 engine, I heard the howl at PCGB Brands Festival in 2005 and it made a deep impression on my brain.

I assume the Porsche decal on the windscreen is applied from the outside, or is it ?

I started this thread after paying my deposit in January 2014 and yesterday collected mine from Porsche Belfast, at long last And not without last minute hitches on my part, my bank transfer took longer than expected ( funds due by banks close of business , the bank closes at 4 pm but their close of business is 6 pm ) and insurance delay.
It's been worth the wait , two long years. I sold by Signal Green 7.2 RS the Hulk at Easter 2014 in preparation for my 991 RS. I never thought it would take so long, almost three times what a pregnancy takes but the offspring is worth it.
Porsche Centre Belfast were absolutley brilliant at every stage. Carl Russell their dealer principal and young Ben Simpsom the salesman I dealt with did all and more. Just before I drove away I was presented with a lovely and pertinant Porsche Possessions gift. They had provided my previous Hulk in Oct 2010 in which I did 20,000 miles in 3.5 years of happy ownership.
I had'nt forseen the meteoric rise in value of 7.2 RS's when I sold the Hulk April 2014 and watched them continue to rise since. Yesterday was D Day, all my questions and doubts would be answered. How would they compare ?

The 991 RS still has the smell, the feel the familiarity of my old car. You just slink into that cabin like an old slipper
( ps, I don't wear slippers ! ). Instruments and layout is better, more information yet you can make it give more or less. Tickover sound from outside seem quieter yet when on the move the scream from the exhaust is very much noticed. I kept it under 4000 RPM on the 100 mile motorway journey and a further 10 miles across the city. While on the motorway I varied my speed and the revs and tried to treat the engine as if it were on a dyno being run in. It was a dull grey wet day yet the wipers did an excelent job in clearing the screen, and without noise. The Pilot Sport Cup 2's coped very well , there was only a light to medium surface of water. I went for a leather steering wheel and gear knob after the previous experience of the alcantra staining from sweat and getting pimples from wear on my GT3 and GT3RS. Feel is great and IMHO a good decision. It's a personal thing really.
The new RS is definetly noisier inside, or perhaps I've forgotten what an RS sounds like after a 20 month gap. I intend to meet up with Nurburgsing on here who bought my Hulk and we'll do a compare and contrast. It accelerates faster due to the extra gear and lightning gear changes. The 918 seats are superb, I agonised over whether to spec the folding buckets and am now happy I went for the 918 seats. The 918 seats must be physically bigger as I found it hard to get soft bag into the back, or maybe I'm out of practice.
It will be some months before I get to drive it on track ( Oulton Porsche Day 11th March). I won't track it much at all, Oulton, a PCI Good Friday Day, a Kirkistown NI Day and a trip to the Ring in May. Track use will be less than 200 miles this year and I hope to do 5000 road miles.
The Engine - superb is my judgement. Like us all on here I was concerned with the passing of the Mezger engine, and even more so with the GT3 recall. No need to worry, this new engine is the dogs B0ll1x. !

On udder things I prefer dark brown nipples, but on the RS I felt the painting in body colour helps to hide them and was cheap. I'd prefer no washers at all .

I think washer painting costs £137 by Porsche Exclusive.

Was reading re a turbo 996 on another thread and the issues that could result after a spin on a trackday if you do not put it into neutral fast enough, what is the recommended procedure if one were to spin and go backwards in a 991 RS? On previous cars i've instantly dipped the clutch and then selected the appropiate gear , not applicable in this case ?
