Sources close to Porsche have suggested that the new Porsche 991 GT3 RS will mark the Rennsport's return to truly limited numbers, with the UK likely to see just 38 cars in 2015 after the cars launch next March.

RS is guaranteed to have not new motor architecture but absolutely derived motor from 9A1. Hatz messed everyone up and what he meant was from the last Gen car. It is 4.0 liter 9A1 and over 500hp. Told me time and again that the GT3 is basis for motorsport engine. There is some special sauce in the GT3 motor and transmission. I was told race mode PDK with a mode to alter torque vectoring.
Specifically asked when we would see a 918 type electric boost and he told me no way in 991.1, no way in 991.2, and testing currently in 992.
Told me all 991.2's are turbo. He told me there is the very very real possibility that this is the last NA GT3/RS. Mostly due to Euro 6 rules.
Also got lots of info on GT4 which I'd prefer not to post in the public forum but would be happy to reply by PM.

Re the Euro 6 rules, my friend got a 991 GT3 and reading through the Certificate of Conformity it says Euro 6 compliant, so what's the problem ? And can you tell Herr Hatz to be more clear when he says completly new engine in future !
Current car may be Euro 6 compliant but if they want to increase HP in future cars then a Turbo may be the only way to achieve that whilst remaining compliant.RDMcG said:

9A1 derived engine is what I had heard with modified internals and also obviously what is the most sensible. However that does contradict with a lot of the interviews being attributed to Hatz (albeit as I said without a single direct quote from him either).RS is guaranteed to have not new motor architecture but absolutely derived motor from 9A1. per that link it explicitly states "Hatz says it is a far more extreme car than its predecessor and that, contrary to speculation, will most definitely be normally aspirated. But, and this is big news, it will have a brand new engine related to neither the old race-derived engines used in previous GT3 and GT2 models, nor the motor in the current GT3."
Using a brand new engine desige as a first in the RS before streaming down to the rest of the range would be pretty unusual but not impossible though. And per somewhere I had read it's almost makes sense given the 9A1 has been around ~6 years which is roughly how long each of the prior engine iterations have lasted I think. Geneva will be soon enough anyway!

The number I heard was 168 GB cars. The 4.3 will be manual and limited.
