Some of the interior looks quite conventional. I'm going to guess it's not going to get bad reviews though .... will be interesting to see what the road testers say in comparison to the usable gt3 and how big the gap.
I quite like the less lairy looks compared to 997 version. What colours they doing them in?

Actually on thinking about it.. if someone put in the Cup sequential manual into the 4.0RS and bolted on some Cup2s rather than the Cup+... 7:20 is not beyond the realm of possibility surely given the official 4.0 time was 7:26...?
FWIW, on tyre testing round Jerez the MPSC2 was 2.4 seconds a lap faster than the MPSC+. Thats for a circa 2.10s lap. One must always be careful drawing too much across from things like this to extrapolate new lap times elsewhere, but its a fairly safe generalisation to say that all the tech that is being added to todays cars is primarily just enabling them to lug their increasing weight around without facing penalties. And of course opening up the envelope to more users.
The improvements in tyre technology are driving much of the lap time reductions being seen.
This is not quite the picture manufacturers would have one believe.
The Jack Olsen video pretty starkly puts this into perspective.

Has anyone notices how WIDE the rear looks?
I followed a 991 Turbo S the other day and the back end looked massive! Does the RS have the same rear end?
Yes - and you are not allowed to say the RS is too big, that kinda talk has been banned I followed a 991 Turbo S the other day and the back end looked massive! Does the RS have the same rear end?
I have been a big critic of the 991 Turbo but I think, at least in isolation, that the RS looks far better than the Turbo does because there are alot of nice details and touches that they can get away with on it.
Its a real shame that the UK, RHD RS is not more widely available as it would make alot of drivers happy.
I am also thinking that for the first time since the gen 1 997, that the RS actually looks better than the standard GT3 however, I will need to see one in the flesh. There are no fussy decals this time, no naff wheel colours or colour co-ordination going on. Just a base colour with some black detailing.

Exactly... this is where Porsche's N-ratings come in handy for the marketing department, keeping the old models at bay by forcing outdated tyres on them unless one is willing to lose the warranty. One must always be careful drawing too much across from things like this to extrapolate new lap times elsewhere, but its a fairly safe generalisation to say that all the tech that is being added to todays cars is primarily just enabling them to lug their increasing weight around without facing penalties. Are 997 GT3s even "allowed" to MPSC2s?

Agreed that the 997.1 RS was better looking than the standard GT3, but cannot agree about this one. The ostentatious colors, the crazy wheels and the wide body were what made the RSs special. Removing them you end up with a slightly hotted up GT3. The RS for me has always been closer in philosophy to a Caterham or an Exige, something you might not drive every day but comes out occasionally for special days and the track. The shorty colours and stickers fit this MO. GT3RSs are my favorite cars, the thing I will buy in 15 years at 45 and then settle into a life of funding a child and being a family man. The ultimate desire that I'm working towards, the be-all and end-all of my materialism. This car doesn't do that for me.
If you would have showed me this picture five years ago with all badges removed, I would have said that belongs to a Mansory Panamera GTS.

Just been told the 918 allocation takes standard allocation away from dealer... ie if the 918s want the car
, there will be none left for normal punters.
Big, big shame..
:-(
Don't think that's quite right. 918 customers have been allocated a car through their 918 OPC, but if they want one can buy it from any dealer. (i.e. not just the dealer they bought the 918 from). it is a 'personal' allocation. , there will be none left for normal punters.
Big, big shame..
:-(
However, if they don't want it at all, it is added to the allocation of their 918 supplier, who can sell it to other customers. So, dealers get a 918 allocation plus a limited non-918 allocation
