Speculate.. good verb.

This thread is going to be better than the GT3 and GT4 threads combined over the next few months.

Very good bargain at that price I think. Well done Porsche.

See the irony?

"Value for money" as a concept on a car this expensive is an interesting notion - but I have to say £131k base is staggeringly good. I (foolishly) bought a 991 C2S with Powerkit three years ago and it was not a lot less than this.

Anyhow, just called my OPC and confirmed my order - not surprisingly, he said the phone has (as with the GT4) been ringing constantly today. He did say that the Centre would be receiving an allocation for 918 customers on top of other orders.

Looks cleaner at the back without the jumbo "Porsche" badge

The limiting factor of these cars is now mainly electronic. It is unlikely that there will be no major leaps forward in performance now until either electronic or tyre technology moves on.

Are you having a 918?

Having previously though NFW, I'm now tempted. I assume a time machine is the only prospect of success for getting one?

I agree with those that feel a little underwhelmed by this release.

I have to say that I was perhaps expecting a little more.

I am also surprised at the options available for the car. There appears to be a huge number of options available, many of which I thought would either have been included or simply not available. This generation of the GT3 RS feels more like a trim level than a limited edition.

As it stands, from this release, the Cayman GT4 looks a more appealing car.

Also.... is it just more, or does the black aero trim look very out of place?

honestly this car just looks hard as nails. How much more desirable is it than Maccas long tail although it only has Porsche 500 horses lol? Just brill and pushes all the right buttons. I feared Porsche was lost but they have just shown that the beancounters do not rule the roost on everything. A very happy Porschefile even if I'm not lucky enough to get one!

Am left wondering about the earlier Porsche statements that the RS would be a performance leap well above the GT3. I am not seeing it. Maybe the road tests will enlighten me...

agree, love it. If I could get one, I'd be very happy.

Law of diminishing returns perhaps. a 5 second ring time improvement from 7:25 (which is bloody quick) probably is rather harder to achieve than the 7 seconds that the 7.2 RS gained over the 7.2 gt3. Still a bit disappointed by the weight though, with the mag roof and carbon front bits, was hoping it'll drop below 1400kg, which in itself usually only achieved with the special Porsche option of helium given most cars weigh a good bit more than factory claim!

Treated myself to a 2010 GT3 RS again today from those lovely boys and girls at JZM, plan to spend £30k tricking it up for the track with KW / RSS suspension, cup diff, sequential shifter, cup steering wheel, alcon CCX brakes and a set of BBS rims with slicks. Spec like my Manthey M600 GT2 that has just completed the same treatment. Can't wait to put them up against each other! To top my day off I can now sit down and decide what goodies I will have on my 991GT3RS as have a confirmed sneaky little spot for one of those also! Can my day be any better?

The road testers will say the RS is a game-changer, it will be unrivalled in the market, it will be a super-fast-out-of-this-world experience and will 'move the game on' etc etc

Chris Harris will do some slidey arse-out video, declare it as 'a whole new thing' and the world will hail the new KING GT3!

People who own one will be able to make £60-£80k profit almost immediately and for THAT reason they will say its the 'best' car out there even though the majority of them can't heel-and-toe for st!

"Ooh it changes gear so fast"

"Ooh the sound it makes when you flick the paddle to downshift is delicious.... why does it do that sound anyway?..... never mind I feel like an F1 driver, this car is AWESOME!"

"Ooh look at me lap times youth, ah done reet good on track me, who's ya daddy!"

Blah Blah Blah

For me its all a bit.....meh!
Couldn't have put it better myself.

I was so hoping it would be a road-going Cup. Strangely enough the Cayman GT4 seems more desirable to me.
