I've heard outside of 918 customers there are 28 other UK hopefuls.

So number of 918 customers/cars plus 28?

I had some information last night from 2 separate dealers that they were getting more RS's than they are getting GT4's. Very strange.

Treated myself to a 2010 GT3 RS again today from those lovely boys and girls at JZM, plan to spend £30k tricking it up for the track with KW / RSS suspension, cup diff, sequential shifter, cup steering wheel, alcon CCX brakes and a set of BBS rims with slicks. Spec like my Manthey M600 GT2 that has just completed the same treatment. Can't wait to put them up against each other! To top my day off I can now sit down and decide what goodies I will have on my 991GT3RS as have a confirmed sneaky little spot for one of those also! Can my day be any better?
Can you post a pic of your GT2 pls?
+1

..... in Mike Wilds livery please wink
Here you go, couple pics of the mellow yellow GT2. I wrapped it like this for Mike as it's his 50th year in racing this year and as we have about 30 trackdays together this year thought it would be a nice touch for the old fella:-) The car had huge amount of mods over the winter at JZM and really handles like it's on rails, meaning the 625bhp can be properly used. I've also installed a 4 camera system and data logger in car and Mike has started making a load of detailed track guides with detailed commentary to show us all how to get the best out of our track time. They will be online soon.

I know that dealers are getting two allocations - one for their 918 customers and one for others. So, if they're sold a few 918s they may well get more than they will gT4. My OPC has more '918' cars than it does 'normal' allocation.

However, as I said earlier, the 918 owner can decide to buy from another dealer and that allocation will transfer with them. If any 918 buyers pass completely on the RS, then their allocation stays with originating dealer who can go down their own list.

On the non-918 allocation, OPCs don't know total UK but obviously know their own. If the non-918 have been allocated as per normal, according to market share then 80 total seems a fair guess, based on what I was told by two OPCs about their allocations and their current market share. That is on top of the 918 UK total which is vague but is in region of 40 I think.

Given that this car is such a money spinner, why don't porsche make more? What is the point of limiting production so much?

Given the low number of RS models I would suggest that Porsche's decision is based on building a few, if only to perpetuate the historical line of RS models. Their efforts will be concentrated on building forced induction engines only. I think we can expect a GT2 RS in the not too distant future which will be more readily available. I hope that we will see a few GT3RS models on the road though most will be squirrelled away in private collections.

The demand for GT3 's will continue to grow. On Sunday there were 4 showing on Porsche Approved. Yesterday that number had dropped to 1

Crappy colour choice. Have asked about paint to sample.

I have no experience of the gen 2 - what were the criticisms?
Halfords rear wing supports, tacky stickers, cheap front wheel arch extensions for starters as I remember, all things I really like about that car now together with plenty of others I think.
But those are subjective/aesthetic criticisms, not engineering ones. My recollection of it was Porsche took gen 2 to the VLN 24 hr and raced it (with appropriate safety mods).

If they do that with the new RS, I may have a little more respect for it.

so, 60 991 RS and potentially 200 ferrari speciale for the uk. what a joke. based on numbers Porsche is no longer the #1 enthusiast brand in the UK, it's ferrari.

with that number how many rs won't be driven?

at least with apple they sell out on week one but have half a million products sitting in an Essex warehouse for week two. these guys have gotten the whole faux scarcity marketing ploy all wrong.

I look forward to seeing the Romans/Jzm advertisement trying to sell one for x.

Thanks Carl. I'm in the camp that has also heard of a larger number coming to the UK. Annoying to see this LOI/deposit/rumour game being played with customers. Glad I'm not involved, quite happy sitting on the sidelines with the non RS standard car.

Is the Speciale built on the normal production line? AFAIK the Porsche GT products are/will be built on a seperate line to the Cayman/911 products so does this mean that as they will be probably building both GT3 RS and GT4 at the same time it drastically reduces their capacity to deliver many of either?

Numbers I got were over 5 each at two different "Northern" dealerships. That makes to 60 total seem a bit on the low side to me.
