I'm not buying a GT3 RS.

From a purely selfish perspective I want the RS to be strongly differentiated from the 'base' GT3 with much higher pricing!

So here is what we know for sure:

1. This will be the most extreme RS to date.
2. Launch at Geneva in March.
3. Builds start in June.
4. This car will steal the thunder from the GT3.

And here are the rumours courtesy of Rennlist:

4.0 engine
500hp
PDK
NO RWS (due to race homologation)
Magnesium roof
20" wheels in front, 21" rear
Turbo body
Turbo air intakes
Other lighter parts

The latest pictures are here:

If the RS is going quite a bit more hardcore (and more strongly linked to a race car) than the stock 3 then I might be in the market again

NO RWS - I think it was mentioned in a previous Porsche interview that they hoped lithium battery technology would have moved on and provided the extra power for RWS ??
Can the RS truly afford no RWS and keep the performance differential above the standard gt3? Pretty sure I read that Porsche reckoned rws on the 918 and gt3 gained them the equivalent of something like 50hp or thereabouts and the RS has to sit above the gt3 in terms of performance.

Talking to someone from one of the OPCs though, the RS numbers do seem like they are going to be extremly limited...

Deposits to confirm allocations were requested by some OPCs last month.

Finally getting a Cup style spoiler. The new RS is going to be heavy!

Can't wait for the first drive review by Chris Harris.

I remember when looking (drooling) over a 997.2 GT3 RS that the bucket seats were standard with optional fixed back bucket seats. It was not possible to buy any 997 GT3 RS with comfort seats.

Do you think Porsche will offer the 991 GT3 RS with comfort seats?

If they do then surely the RS will just be a more focused 991 GT3......which leaves the vanilla 991 GT3 where exactly?

Rumour has it that the RS will be much more hardcore, so I would expect roll cage and bucket seats to be standard, and no optional comfort seats.

I am praying for NO stitching options, NO leather, and limited colour options.

Only 6.5 weeks until the beast is unveiled!

Well if that's the rear spoiler I will be laughing for a month, I'm all for a big spoiler, but in that picture that looks quite bizarre!

The North American market will probably have comfort seats by default.

I am sure they will be happy about that.

Rather to my surprise....discovered that you can still order a 458 Speciale...granted you'll wait 12 months for delivery but possible....although that kind of bothers from an overall demand point of view

So should one....await the GT3 RS (reasonably confident of a build slot..but that might be excessive optimism)...or jump on the Speciale..

or do both and sell the one that doesn't float the boat.

Thoughts? Definitely a first world problem I appreciate..but we've all got our ...drugs smile
