I absolutely LOVE them!
Almost got one to replace my 928 S4 once. I've lusted after one since I was in my teen years. Only problem was the languid and poor low speed response compared to that great big 5 litre V8 I was used to. The alternative at the time was a 3.2 litre Carrera which was too slow compared to my outgoing 928 S4. I couldn't justify the price compared to how much the 928 S4 cost me and for what I got. In the end I stayed with the 928 until I could afford to jump up to the 993 TT. I decided to avoid the 964/965. As much as I respect these and their abilities I was put off by the reliability issues of the NA models. I also wasn't too keen on their looks IMHO- like a classic 80s one with a body kit tacked on.
To me the 930 Turbo will always be a pure performance Porsche of the old school achieving what it does through brute force. There's something wonderfully politically incorrect about one. The jutting out arches, the wide flared out arches-the big bumpers. Absolut 80's icon to my mind. I prefer the way they sound compared to the later models too. With the simple K Jetronic injection and a mechnical spring waste gate they're much easier to fiddle with too. Durable in the extreme without all the complex crap that 993s and 964s have, I lusted after a late LE or simple five speed. Lots of lag.

Good luck on your purchase sir!

You jest sire, reams have been written about 930.

Why even this months 911 & pork world has a bit on an early 930.

Book wise off the top of my head- 930 to 935 by Starky worth a read, tho more race cars orientated & Bruce Andersons 911 tuning book I seem to remember has a fair bit on 'em, The normally excellent Frere book the 911 story is a bit thin on 930s tho.
