£140k for a fast depreciating '4 seater' sportscar? Err. no thanks.
Buy the 2 seater you like most for less and buy an x5 for when you need to be more than 2.
BTW a superb V12V manual with low miles is £85k now. Fortget about the £140k lunacy.

F458, MC12C, AMV12, 991GT3....
All very nice, but the 991 Turbo's very clever rear seats are it's USP.
Although, I do think the Turbos are expensive and will drop dosh, so I'd settle for a 991 C4S and spend the remainder on an 'old school' manual 911.

Porsche should take note that a old design like a Vantage all be it a new car model is winning in this poll.
I don't get the new Porsche soft line up, I have driven them all bar the new Turbo and GT3 and none are really any fun.
They seem to be aiming at the Jag Market and Jag want the younger market lol.
How ever good the new 991 GT3 is it's still an auto so would not even be on my wish list as my fun weekend and drivers car.
owning a 991 now would make me feel over 50, which is what I thought Aston and Jag did best.
Standard Boxsters, Caymans and 991's are all a bit meh
And I hate the "meh" saying but Porsche makes me say this word ATM.

Yep i agree with this. I will be 50 soon though and yes i do want an Aston, but a manual one!I don't get the new Porsche soft line up, I have driven them all bar the new Turbo and GT3 and none are really any fun.

AM still winning!
That's a good thing IMHO - because1. Porsche fans can be objective, and so aren't total fanboys of the marque. I'm not so sure that other sections of the site would be so 'open-minded'. and
2. Aston make really good cars - which is the incentive for Porsche to keep making even better cars.
So jolly well done all round I reckon.

I almost bought a V12V a while ago and I might have done if I hadn’t driven to the AM Dealership in a 997 C2S. Dynamically the cars were very different, but each is involving and special in differing ways; the engine note of the V12V is something else (and so therefore probably turned up a notch in the S)… Everyone (I have spoken to) speaks highly of the AM interior design and quality (except the SatNav), but to be honest I preferred the C2S interior in a direct back-to-back comparison.
AM V12VS is a lovely looking thing, but ultimately I rationalised the decision I made based upon the fact that I spend my time in it driving not looking at it. Porsche for me.
Not sure how you can prefer the 997 interior???? Great car no doubt but I thought the interior was a let down. I paid a deposit on a V12V with the aim of buying based on a test drive. Hated it. Poor driving position, terrible sight lines, offset pedals, terrible gear change (too long), gear stick far too far back. Interior looked nice but ergonomically it was poor. I also thought the noise inside the car was really disappointing, much too quiet. They sound great from the outside though. I also thought the build quality was pretty poor for a £140k car (although nobody paid that).
I didn't buy it.
991 GT3 for me over both of them and save £30k.
Just sold mine after 14 months, and I concur. I didn't buy it.

Didn't hate it by any means, but too heavy, and the paint was dire. Also didn't justify the £11 per mile depreciation
Lady from AM Dealer rang me today, to invite to see the S. I politely informed he that although I appreciated the offer, please issue to someone else who is prepared to lose £50-£60k within 12 months and a couple of thousand miles.
A very frank, and light hearted conversation, both laughing....but she didn't once disagree. Very telling.
Driven the new vanquish and had plenty of time in a DBS. Both i thought were ok but not really that exciting and didnt even sound as good i was expecting either. Something like a turbo s especially the new one would embarass an aston in every way bar maybe looks. Porsche for me all day long.

Not really comparable cars.
What else can you buy new @ £140k that has 560+hp?The 911 would be faultless, ergonomically perfect, crammed with tech, massively quick across any road and incredibly accomplished in every way.
So I'd take the Aston.
More continental gt rival.
I have driven 993C2 and 993Turbo S and 997turbo Gen 2. I recently bought V12v. I have to say I find the 997 perfectly uninteresting and wonder if the 991 Turbo is the same. It us just effortless but Not exciting. The V12v though is wonderful in looks in sound and grunt. I love driving it. I love the look of it. Only the 993 Turbo S lives up against the V12v for sound and gravitas.

Why? It's not even a real-world question. If it had been "Imagine you had just worked your nuts off and had to plonk down £140k of your own hard-earned money on one of these cars, which one would you buy" then that would change the outcome somehow.Says nothing about the car if you are getting it for free. I'd take the Aston for a year for fee and buy the 911 at the same time. Since that's never going to happen and it comes down to which one would you buy, I'd have the 911 all day long.
