So who's getting an i3?

Given the mixed feelings on PH about the i3 - I wonder how many of us are going to take the plunge?

For me, it appeals as it is quite different to anything on the road and anything I have ever owned.

The lack of company car tax and very low running costs help too!

I ordered one a while ago, with REX. Was told November but I have a feeling it will be Jan.

Sat in the demo a few weeks ago and was very impressed, so much space - getting quite excited about it !

I put in my order for a pure electric i3 a few days after the initial launch, so early August I guess. I'm told it's due late January, but I reckon that'll slide. I'm the other M3 owner on the other thread, Ross

How long do the rechargeable batteries last for and what's the cost to get new ones?

They are warranted for 100,000 miles and 8 years. No idea on replacement cost.

That's amazing if true. Do they warranty the range though or is a 20 mile range ok at 4 years?

It's strange, the UK site says "The BMW i3 comes with an 8 year/100,000 mile high-voltage battery warranty as standard, along with the 3 year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty."

The German site (Google translated) says: "On the HV battery with Lithium Ion 8 years or 100,000 km warranty will be given. *

• For 70% of capacity"

So, UK version says more miles, but no mention of how much charge has to be left.

The battery will be totally fked after 18 months and you will have to pay someone to dispose of the car.

But I'm will to take any 18 month old leaf or i3 for free

in about 8 years time when the battery warranties run out are we going to see some conversions with the batteries ripped out and an engine put in making an ultra light carbon fibre hot hatch?
