Ya big puff! wink

Seriously though, what a shame not to take such a great driver's car on such a fantastic, rewarding circuit that's perfectly suited to your car.

Why not book a day's instruction? Learn the track and smooth techniques steadily at your own pace, with someone that know the place well and should keep you, and the car, safe. Now, I wonder who that could be? whistle
Thanks for the offer Marcus, but my desire to drive on track waned some time ago.
If its pissing down like last year I shall be attending in a not-so-lightweight derv Alpina.... smile

Besides, I can just see it now - all the regulars posting on here about some fat hairdresser pootling round holding them up. hehe

Will I be able to attend the track day with a Hayward &Scott bypass exhaust?
I had one fitted to my GT3 so this is an informed opinion, No fcensoreding chance.....
hehe Fair enough
Ah well, worth it though. Best mod I've ever had done on a car of mine. Large Grins now compulsory in mine together with searching out every tunnel I can find biggrin

Booked, 2 cars. 991GT3 and Porsche Cayman race car, standard engine but on slicks, which will be quicker. Interesting to find out.

Equally interesting - whether either of them make it past the noise requirements..... ?

The race car should as its subject to a low enough db rating at scrutiny at most tracks and the GT3 should too IMHO. My 7.2 RS does and did at Oulton last year.

What's the spec on the Cayman? If it's a stock car but just on slicks, then the GT3 will be significantly quicker.

For comparison, the PCGB championship boxsters on slicks were lapping around 1'52 when they visited OP this year.

Very interesting. What do they have to work with on suspension and weight?

I'm sure the Goose will be along soon to fill in the fine details but weight wise the boxsters had to be over 1300 Kg, standard power (265 bhp for the 3.2?) and OE suspension (but stiffer springs and shocks allowed). The Cayman S was in its first year and was heavily handicapped with weight (over 1400 Kg at the start of the season I believe). I had the pleasure of some passenger rides at a track day in Chris Whittle's Cayman S race car, which was mega fun!

By all accounts from the media the new car is supposedly a step up in noise and the higher red line means more RPM for the static and indeed likely the drivebys too. It has been an open question since it was announced and it is almost suspicious the extent to which nobody wants to talk about it. The question is of course only as to whether extra external silencing like the db killers that X-pipe users usually have to run will be required - it certainly isn't game over if she is a touch too vocal. biggrin

The Cayman is fairly stock engine. flywheel, clutch, LSD all updated, std ratios, stripped, dipped, and caged. 997 cup brakes, proflex, all usual bits and bobs, 1200kg ish still early days with suspension and 1.52 at OP. brakes will be a match for GT3, slicks will have more grip but lot less grunt plus slow gear changes. Will be close but my money is on GT3 with same driver. Looking forward to the showdown.

Also booked. I was there yesterday too, the whole circuit was pure white with ice until about 10.30, then pure white with salt for the rest of the day. Had a cracking day, superb slippery fun.

They seem to do this at MSV circuits - I guess it comes down to economics......... Clearly they would rather salt the track and be able to run the trackday than have to cancel and give refunds / raincheques.
I experienced this at Brands last year - the wet salt sludge was the slipperiest thing I've ever driven on, and the car was absolutely disgustingly filthy by the end of the day. Had to have the engine bay steam cleaned to get all the salt and grot out of it (Clio race car)

... And the following weekend they had the salt spreader out along with every available member of the circuit staff in their road cars following the salt truck for about an hour. The circuit was then declared driveable but it really wasn't until it had completely dried out & the top layer of salt cleared from the line, which was about mid-way through the following day!
